EMFace is the revolutionary new non surgical facelift that is causing big excitement in beauty aesthetics, it promises to lift and sculpt facial muscles and reduce wrinkles with no down time and completely needle free! And I got to try it out! You may have seen my first blog post about EMFace, if not pop over for a read How to get the best results from EMFace | the revolutionary new facial contouring treatment at S-Thetics in Beaconsfield. I was super excited to be one of the first patients in the UK to try EMFace. I have never been a fan of injectables or anything too invasive (although I did try Profhilo a few years ago) but generally I prefer to let nature take its course, I want to look like me! I do feel a bit horrified at the number of younger women choosing to have fillers. Although the Government has introduced a crackdown on unregulated treatments, I still think this is something that should be carried out by a properly qualified medical doctor and that is one of the reasons I love the S-Thetics Clinic in Beaconsfield. S-Thetics Clinic, Beaconsfield was founded by surgeon and cosmetic doctor Miss Sherina Balaratnam. Miss Balaratnam has over 23 years medical experience, she trained as a plastic surgeon for 6 years and is passionate about offering the most advanced skincare products and facial treatments as well as non-surgical skin rejuvenation and body contouring using the latest medical grade technology there is. So read on to find out more ... including what it feels like when you have an EMFace treatment, how long it takes and is it worth it? This is a gifted blog post. What is EMFace?EMFace is a game-changer in natural looking cosmetic enhancements, there are no needles and absolutely no down time! In fact, you leave the clinic, with glowing, healthy looking skin. You only need 4 x EMFace treatments plus one follow-up about 90 days later then it is up to you how often you top up. EMFace combines two technologies, HIFES (High Intensity Facial Electrical Stimulation) and Radiofrequency (RF) to improve facial muscle density and stimulate collagen and elastin production. The HIFES contracts the cheeks and forehead muscles to create lift while the RF uses heat technology to increase collagen and elastin to plump the skin. Clinical studies carried out by BTL Aesthetics, who developed and manufacture EMFace, show impressive results with 37% wrinkle reduction, a 23% lifting effect and a 30% increase in muscle tone. They are the market leaders in body contouring - you may have seen my blog posts about EMSculpt NEO and Emsella. What does an EMFace treatment feel like?It is very quick and easy and it is not painful but it does feel a bit strange! I arrive at the clinic with a makeup free face, and then I am asked to do a final, extra cleanse to make sure my skin is free from any debris that has built up. Before I started my EMFace course S-Thetics took detailed before and after images using their Visia and Vectra imaging - you can see my 'before and after' images below. It is best to wear a t-shirt or vest top so that the grounding pad can be applied to the back - this completes the circuit for the HIFES and RF, then I am asked to get comfortable on the treatment chair and the EMFace sticky applicators are applied to my forehead and cheeks. Miss Balaratnam is very careful to get the positioning exactly right but will also adjust as needed once the treatment starts, she monitors the process during the whole treatment time. The benefits of a medical doctor carrying out the procedure mean that she is very highly trained to assess and understand the muscles of the face. You are then connected to the EMFace technology and switched on! The EMFace treatment starts slowly so you can get used to the sensation, I can only describe it as a bit like an electrical stimulus (remember TENS machines during labour or the Slendertone belts)? But stronger! It really doesn't hurt but it is weird because your muscles are tensing and relaxing and you feel as if you are winking at everyone! Of course there is no 'everyone' just you and the doctor but you have no control over the muscle contractions. The applictors also heat up and you feel a gentle warmth. The treatment time is 20 minutes, I could feel it was a little more intense on my right side, and Miss Balaratnam does help to keep you comfortable by pressing on the applicators or making any small adjustments. The EMFace machine will then gradually increase to 100% intensity - but this can be manually controlled if you need to take it more slowly. Remember it isn't painful, it just needs getting used to. Results from EMFaceI absolutely loved how my skin looked after each EMFace treatment, I really did glow and look super healthy. I could also see the. immediate benefits, it was clear my muscles had lifted and the RF had stimulated collagen to give my skin a fresh look. I had no reservations about leaving the clinic with no makeup on! I was able to see immediate results after each treatment and it only get better. But the technology, like EMSclupt NEO, continues to work over the coming weeks and months. After my 4th treatment, I was very excited to see how much younger I looked! My eyes appeared to pop and look bigger, the lift was obvious and my skin looked smoother and my cheekbones were defined, everything looked brighter. By lifting the brow elevator it enables your eyes to open up. By improving resting muscle tone, your face feels tighter and stronger. Everything looks sharper and pulled back in! And there will be a continuous improvement over the next year. For video and comments from Miss Balaratnam please do pop over to my Instagram (grid and story highlights). Who would benefit the most from EMFace? As we age our skin loses its natural youthful glow due to a reduction in elastin and collagen which as we all know results in a loss of muscle tone, our face will slowly droop and feel saggier. There is also a drying effect going on which is why we will see lines and wrinkles appearing and lose the smooth, plump look of our teens and twenties! The rate of these changes varies for everyone. Personally I have never been too bothered by ageing but then I have inherited good genes and my lifestyle choices have enabled me to maintain a younger looking appearance without too much effort. I didn't ever smoke and I have made sure my skin is protected from environmental influences likes extreme sun exposure, I now wear an SPF every day. But everyone is different and we all benefit from a confidence boost and if there is help available and we can afford to access these revolutionary treatments then why not! Miss Balaratnam explains how so many of the new advanced aesthetic procedures can really support our long term health - not only our mental wellbeing - but providing muscle and skeletal strength so that we can continue to keep active and prevent future problems. It isn't always about appearances. Anyone can benefit from a course of EMFace treatments but women in their 40s and 50s are the most likely to be looking for some gentle and subtle changes to their facial appearance. EMFace can be successfully combined with Botox but it is important to get the right advice on timing of treatments etc. EMFace can achieve similar results to Botox and fillers but the method is much more natural. Whereas EMFace will smooth lines and wrinkles and strengthen facial muscles, fillers paralyse the face structure and prevent lines and wrinkles from forming - this is still only temporary though! Is EMFace worth the cost?EMFace is able to treat the four main contributors to facial ageing, the skin, fat, muscle and bone, with no down time and no needles. It is revolutionary but of course it comes with a cost! And it is a different result to fillers, although for me this is not a route I want to go down, but the results from EMFace are subtle and natural. Using EMFace, like EMSculpt NEO, is a long game, your skin will look healthy and lifted immediately after each of your four treatments but the results can really start be seen 90 days after your last treatment. Maintenance sessions are also recommended so it is an ongoing commitment, probably once or twice a year. Would I invest the money if I hadn't been gifted this course of treatments? Yes I would and like Emsella I feel it is something I will seriously consider keeping up - I can see and feel the benefits and I don't want to lose the results. Before and after EMFaceTo hear Miss Balaratnam and I discussing my results, please visit my Instagram stories but looking at my before and after images here, I am able to see a healthier glow, my skin looks less grey and younger. In particular my eyes look brighter and bigger, they have opened up and are less tired. My facial features are tighter and pulled in, more contoured. The EMFace treatment is able to go beyond the surface and work on our connective tissue and ligament structure, meaning the face looks pulled up and back! I was gifted a course of 4 X EMFace treatments. I have agreed to share my experience and my results on my blog and on my Instagram account. I don't see any difference except in the after photos the skin looks pink, most likely just the blood going to the surface of the skin. This is just another fad to waste money on.

Hi Sally, I guess any treatment is very personal and subjective, we all see something different. Certainly any aesthetic procedure is an investment that everyone needs to consider very carefully. Michelle
