How to get the best results from EMFace | the revolutionary new non-invasive facial contouring treatment at S-Thetics in Beaconsfield

19/1/2023

You may have seen on my Instagram in late November that I attended the launch for the new EMFace treatment at the S-Thetics Clinic in Beaconsfield. EMFace is a revolutionary non-invasive facial treatment that uses both synchronised RF and HIFESTM energies to offer less wrinkles and more lift without needles!

EMFace from BTL Aesthetics is taking the beauty world by storm and revolutionising facial aesthetics. It is a very exciting new skincare treatment and S-Thetics in Beaconsfield is one of the first UK clinics to be offering this technology to their patients.

And I am very excited to have been invited by S-Thetics to experience and review a full course of EMFace - but before I can go ahead with my EMFace course it is important to prepare my skin and get it in absolute tip top condition so that I can achieve the best results and get the radiant skin I dream of!

I will be sharing my skin rejuvenation process on my blog - starting with skin analysis, facials and skincare.

This is a gifted blog post.

Skin analysis using Visia and Vectra imaging

I started with a full complimentary consultation where images were taken using the Visia and Vectra technology that allow Miss Balaratnam and her team to clearly see my before and after results and to tailor my skincare and treatment regime specifically for my skin's needs.

The detail that the Visia can record is amazing and also a little bit scary - these are close up, no makeup images where every layer of your skin can be analysed. There are eight different variables measured and they contribute to the overall condition of your skin's surface:
  • Wrinkles, both fine and deep.
  • Spots and acne.
  • Pore size.
  • Uneven skin tone and any other variations.
  • Bacteria
  • UV Spots (skin damage from the sun).
  • Pigmentation, dark spots and age spots.
  • Redness including inflammation and rosacea).

Once the images are taken, the technology only takes a few minutes to analyse the results and each one of the eight variables was discussed with me so I understood exactly what my skin issues are currently.

Taking these images means that it is very easy to compare before and after results and continue to tailor skincare and the different types of facial treatments needed to create the best treatment plan. Each area has a scoreboard that gives a result out of 100 and analyses data from other women of my skin type and age to give a score. The score is either Above 50 (the green zone) which is good or Below 50 (the red zone) which highlights areas that need improvement.

Zebenesa explained that she was able to see some deep frowning and wrinkles on my forehead which also suggests dehydration so she will be working on boosting the production of collagen, possibly with supplements, but also with my skincare and the oxygen and rejuvenating serum part of the facials will really help by pushing hydration deep into my skin. I also have some dead skin cells and Zebenesa explained that I should use my cleanser 'like my best friend'. If you'd like to hear more details from my consultation then I am sharing snippets on my Instagram stories and on a reel.

The Vectra then takes a set of 3D images - in this case of my face - but it is suitable for whole body analysis and was used before and after my EMSculpt NEO treatments.

The Visia and Vectra images provide a very thorough and measurable set of data for both Miss Balaratnam and the patient to use to monitor progress.

Facials at S-Thetics

After my skin analysis I was invited to experience the Intraceuticals Oxygen Facial and then the Glow Facial, both have been personally curated by Miss Balaratnam to offer not only amazing results but also to be extremely relaxing.

First I had the Intraceuticals Oxygen Facial which combines a blend of six different elements to offer the most amazing facial, delivered beautifully by Zebenesa and filmed by my daughter for my Instagram!

  • Lymphastim - starting with the massage trousers! This is an advanced pressotherapy system for lymphatic drainage, you need to wear leggings, lay on the bed and get zipped into the trousers then lay back and enjoy a gentle, relaxing massage on your legs and tummy area. Our lymphatic system helps remove toxins and the massage encourages the movement of lymph fluids around the body. It is often used for treating lymphedema, post-traumatic and post-surgical swelling and heavy legs syndrome. At the S-Thetics Clinic this system is used to encourage depuffing, it removes pressure on bones and muscles, and creates a really good detox, all while enjoying your facial.
  • HydraFacial - the facial itself also starts with lymph drainage on the face, this is done using the HydraFacial technology and the lymphatic facial reduces toxins and puffiness. It is very gentle and relaxing and I could see the difference from one side (treated) compared to the other side (untreated).
  • Cleanse - my face was then cleansed using the gentle gel cleanser from iS Clinical.
  • Eye area and Lips - next an Intraceutical eye pad and lip pad are applied, these contain hyaluronic acid and provide hydration as part of the oxygen facial.
  • Oxygen facial - the main part of the facial is then carried out. A rejuvenating, collagen boosting serum is applied to the skin and then using an airbrush pen, oxygen is sprayed onto the face and the serum is pushed deep into the skin. The oxygen is cool but not cold and it feels refreshing and gentle on the skin and means that hydration is able to reach the deeper layers of skin. The oxygen gives such a youthful glow to my skin!
  • Celluma light therapy - my face is then covered with the Celluma light therapy device, it is comfortable to experience, there is no risk of damage to the eyes and it feels incredibly relaxing. The red light has an anti-inflammatory action and the blue light has antibacterial properties. Both wake up the skin to allow it to rejuvenate especially the collagen and elastin, it is an excellent anti-ageing treatment and good for treating pigmentation and sun damage. The Celluma device is available to purchase for at home treatments and is excellent for arthritis and joint pain. I relax under the Celluma for ten minutes.
  • Skincare - finally the iS Clinical skincare is applied to my skin using relaxing facial massage techniques.

I left the clinic feeling lighter, relaxed, and happy and excited to start to see results! Regular facials like this one would be perfect to have for an impending special occasion.

Two weeks later I returned to S-Thetics having been using my new skincare religiously and Zebenesa then carried out the Glow Facial.  This is a 2 in 1 facial which combines the HydraFacial with Intraceuticals, a blend of two very high tech facials.

After the 'cleanse' above, the Glow Facial then delivers the following additional elements:
  • Deep cleanse - using suction providing by the HydraFacial.
  • Peel - using a 7.5% glycolic peel, my skin felt tingly but comfortable and the peel is very exfoliating.
  • Extraction - again using suction, the extraction pulls out any white heads of blackheads very effectively as the skin has been softened by the peel.
  • Booster - my skin is then treated with a protein and peptide serum with hyaluronic acid to add a massive boost of much needed hydration.
Zebenesa then continues with the Oxygen facial, the Celluma light therapy and the skincare.  It really is absolute bliss!

Skincare from iS Clinical

I have been provided with the best medical grade skin care products to use for the next six weeks.  My new skincare regime is tailored exactly for my needs:

Cleansing Complex - to deep cleanse morning and night, also has mild resurfacing properties.
Youth Eye Complex - a breakthrough formula to combat the visible signs of ageing, like the appearance of fine lines, use morning and night over the outside of the eyes, brow bone and delicate under-eye area.
Pro-Heal Serum Advance+ - to sooth, calm and protect the skin texture, this serum has high antioxidant protection and is clinically proven to treat acne and rosacea by reducing inflammation.
Reparative Moisture Emulsion - an intense, rejuvenating moisturiser formulate with pharmaceutical grade botanicals, peptides and powerful antioxidants.
Extreme Protect SPF30 - use your SPF every day! This one hydrates, smooths and softens the skin, it guards against pollution, blue light and other environmental factors.
Copper Firming Mist - a refreshing treatment mist which is instantly hydrating.

At time of writing I have been using the skincare for two weeks, it is simple to follow, feels amazing on my skin and doesn't take long to complete at all. I am very very thorough with my cleanser and making sure that I always cleanse morning and night! S-Thetics called me the day after my first facial to make sure that I was happy with everything and to check that I was not experiencing any dry skin or other concerns. I don't have sensitive skin but I am reassured that S-Thetics know exactly the right products to use and will make any changes if needed.

,I am exceptionally lucky to be able to experience this full skincare protocol starting with skin analysis, using the facials to really boost the condition of my skin and tackle some problems areas, as well as the benefits from the iS Clinical skincare and ultimately the EMFace treatments!

The S-Thetics Clinic was founded by surgeon and cosmetic doctor Miss Sherina Balaratnam. Miss Balaratnam has over 23 years medical experience, she trained as a plastic surgeon for 6 years and is passionate about offering the most advanced skincare products and facial treatments as well as non-surgical skin rejuvenation and body contouring using the latest medical grade technology there is.

Miss Balaratnam believes that as an advanced aesthetic clinic it is important to offer a full patient journey and not 'just a filler'.  She wants to get to know every one of her patients, their skin and muscles, their skeletal structure and their goals and make sure that every patient has their treatment tailored to them for the best possible anti-ageing results.

I can't wait to see my results!

Love from
Michelle xx
