Okay I will be honest I did spend nearly every day, all day, just sat on my sun lounger, with the most exercise being to get up from said sun lounger, get in the pool, cool off and return to the sun lounger! Isn't that what hot holidays are all about?! We've just spent two weeks in Kalkan in Turkey and it was wonderful. I did nothing, I didn't cook, I didn't have to think about what to cook, I didn't do any housework or washing. I wore bikini's all day and summer dresses at night.
Our holiday was booked with Simpson Travel who I cannot recommend highly enough. We discovered them six years ago when we went to Kalkan for the first time. They are a slightly higher end, more exclusive but not a silly expensive tour operator. They focus on excellent customer service and totally looking after you every minute of your holiday. We've since used them to go to Corfu and Kefalonia and now back to Kalkan again.

I'm home from two glorious weeks in Kalkan in Turkey and I will be writing a post about it soon. But first I wanted to fit this post in about Magnesium and the benefits of taking a supplement especially as we get a bit older.
I have been taking a Magnesium supplement on and off for a few years as well as adding magnesium salts to my evening bath from time to time. However, I am not always good at maintaining the habit and will often run out and then not take them for a while. When I was researching and learning as much as I could about how to be healthy and the best exercise to do, Magnesium was one of the supplements recommended again and again as essential and worth taking. A few months ago I was contacted by Future You Health, a supplement company based in Cambridge and I agreed to try out some of their supplements. I am about to depart for my annual sunshine holiday, we are heading back to Kalkan in Turkey for two weeks, so I have a week ahead of planning my holiday clothes and finalising my outfits. Kalkan is quite a dressy resort, it is a small harbour town on the Mediterranean coast and has fabulous shops and restaurants all with amazing views. My days are mostly spent in a bikini with a beach cover-up over and my evenings are maxi or midi sundresses with either flat sandals or wedge heels.
But therein lies the challenge - natural fabrics like cotton and linen are increasingly hard to come by and I find it so frustrating. I don't want polyester and some viscose is prone to creasing, I don't wear linen for that reason, I don't want to have to iron on holiday so I want lightweight cotton or jersey that I can pull out of my suitcase and put on! After a long flight I am always keen to relax and explore the hotel and pool. Has anyone ever considered a different method of travel by the way, I have often wondered about private jet charter cost, or am I only dreaming ...?! |
