I do get asked to review quite a few skincare products for my blog and it is an honour to be asked and I always appreciate the opportunity, but I am far from a beauty expert, in fact I tend to have a very simple routine and don't buy a lot of different creams. I am just like you, trying to work out what is best and navigating the ever-changing list of benefits and new miracle ingredients to try and find the holy grail, the best anti wrinkle cream! I have been faithful to Liz Earle for many years. But it is also lovely to experiment and find different beauty brands, especially ones I have not heard of, or as you know, I love to support small business owners. My skin (I think) is fairly 'normal' these days, I am neither too dry nor too oily and although I favour some anti ageing support, it is not my prime motivation for choosing a product range. I am looking for something that delivers on it's promise, feels good on my skin and isn't too expensive. Tropic - I have been really impressed with Tropic and I did a review on the blog where I looked in detail at the comparison with Liz Earle and I did feel that Tropic came out really well. I have stuck with the daily moisturiser, Skin Feast and I love their Body Pebbles. I recently purchased the pebble pouch too, you pop the soap in the pouch and it adds some extra exfoliating oomph! Liz Earle - I still have a tube of the Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish and although I tried the Tropic one I preferred Liz Earle. Until that is I tried the Purity & Hydrate Cream Cleanser by Cha Vøhtz at Green People (see below). I don't think Liz Earle will ever disappoint though and I particularly like that I can walk into my local John Lewis and buy what I need. Cha Vøhtz at Green People - I was only recently introduced to this range and I have been really very impressed! I wrote about the brand on my blog post here - Green People | Natural beauty for you, your family and your dog. Green People* kindly sent me some further products to try out, the Age Defy+ Purify & Hydrate Cream Cleanser and the Age Defy+ Tinted DD Moisturiser SPF15. The Age Defy+ Purify & Hydrate Cream Cleanser contains the stunningly beautiful Hibiscus plant which is known for it's magical anti ageing benefits. And with the incredible ability to inhibit the activity of the enzyme elastase, which is responsible for breaking down our skin's precious elastin, Hibiscus actively combats the ageing process by firming and lifting your skin. It can also purify your skin with it's gentle exfoliating effect, help with age spots, can control acne breakouts, and it is naturally moisture rich so will hydrate and soften your skin all day. As well as the cleanser, Cha Vøhtz have an exfoliator and a serum in their hibiscus range. Read about Hibiscus Benefits for Beautiful Skin here. The Age Defy+ Tinted DD Moisturiser from Cha Vøhtz is one of their best sellers and I can see why! The DD (Daily Defence) comes in two shades, Light or Medium and both contain the all important SPF15 as well as being enriched with 35 beauty enhancing ingredients. It is the UK's first certified organic DD cream and it adapts to suit your own skin tone and it really does give a gorgeous natural glow. It is fully buildable to offer you a light coverage or a fuller coverage depending on your preference. It also works fantastically to prime the skin underneath your foundation if you prefer a little more coverage. I am really impressed with this one and you can order sample sizes too if you want to try it out for colour and coverage. Read more about the benefits of the Cha Vøhtz Age Defy+ Tinted DD Moisturiser SPF15 and understand the difference between BB, CC and DD creams here! Pure Obagi - another brand I have recently discovered is Pure Obagi*, they sent me their Obagi Hydrate to try out, Not to be confused with the Obagi 'prescription only' range, Pure Obagi is now available to purchase online throughout Europe. Pure Obagi is backed by the science and innovation behind the Obagi Medical products and this new non-prescription range is much more accessible. For help in choosing the right products for your skin, they have an online tool to determine your unique skin type and recommend the best Pure Obagi products for you. I have been very impressed with Obagi Hydrate, I can really feel the hydration and it doesn't have an overwhelming scent, it just feels like it is going to work! It is dermatologist tested, non-irritating and suitable for sensitive skin. It will continuously release moisturising ingredients over 8 hours to hydrate your skin from within. My skin felt soft and smooth, it also contains shea butter, mango butter, avocado oil and glycerin to really nourish the skin and it will also protect agains the environmental stresses that can cause fine lines and dark spots. Dermaworks - offer effective, affordable and easy to use anti ageing skincare, they have a selection of serums and moisturisers for skin as well as for eyebrows and eyelashes. Really advanced products but at sensible prices. Use this link and the code FIFTYFAB for 10% off. I got to try out their Retinol Night Serum and have been very impressed. Skin Genius - is a small brand that offers natural, vegan friendly and organic products suitable for all the family - your teenage daughter, son or yourself. I tried out their three core products - Cleanse (with witch hazel, calendula and lemon tea tree), Treat (with oregon grape, yarrow and roman chamomile) and finally Hydrate (with babassu, macadamia and hazelnut). Use daily, repeat every day and in around 30 days see your skin adjust. You can buy the complete bundle here or individually. My top recommendations ... Cleanser - my top choice would be the Age Defy+ Purify & Hydrate Cream Cleanser, I am really loving it and it's great value for money too, a little goes a long way! Buy some good quality re-useable face cloths to use with it - loads of options on Etsy. Face Moisturiser - for a higher end treat, I would certainly recommend looking into the Pure Obagi products, they are clinical-quality with proven results and feel fabulous on the skin. Serum - I do love the Dermaworks products for giving you a lot of result for your money. For 10% off use code FIFTYFAB. Primer and Tinted Moisturiser - I am always searching for the perfect primer and I am certainly enjoying using the Age Defy+ DD Cream, I love that I can build this up and use alone or add some extra foundation over it. Acne Breakouts - if you have teenage children (boys or girls) or suffer from breakouts yourself then do take a look at Skin Genius, such a fabulous all round skincare brand. And for body care .... Body Exfoliating - I am enjoying the Elemis Frangiapani Monoi Salt Glow, this is so luxurious and a massive treat but use once a week to scrub, cleanse and exfoliate for gorgeous skin, and it smells amazing. For every day cleansing with a gentle exfoliation then I always use the body pebbles from Tropic and the addition of the pebble pouch has been excellent. Body Moisturiser - I am currently using the Liz Earle Skin Replenishing Body Balm, my skin is unusually dry at the moment, not sure why, winter maybe? I make sure I exfoliate then moisturise and I am looking forward to getting a full body massage next week! Self Tanning - once I have my skin in tip top condition, and it seems to have suffered a bit this winter, then I will be using self tan until October! Getting my skin ready for applying a tan includes my sugar waxing which is also an excellent exfoliator and then a moisturising body massage. But once I feel my skin is prepped I always use St Moriz products, you can read my guide to Self Tanning here. Pedicure - if you prefer an at home pedicure rather than go to the salon then do look at the products from B-Line Beauty, you can read my blog post about them here. Their Feet Treat is amazing (and I use it as a hand cream too). My toes are now ready for my summer sandals - hurry up warm weather! I am about to start a programme of Hydrafacials with ERA Skin & Laser Clinic in Thame, Oxfordshire, I am really excited. I will be writing a series of blog posts letting you know how I got on but most importantly sharing some skin health knowledge with you too. Regular beauty facials can help address many of our skin concerns such as dull and dry skin, acne, pigmentation or fine lines and wrinkles. But the effect is usually only temporary. Hydrafacial promotes 'Skin Health for Life' and with regular treatments can target and maintain healthy, glowing skin longer term. After a year and more of looking at ourselves on a computer screen during zoom calls, I think we are all ready for a bit of help and self-care. But before rushing out to book a tweakment or a one off facial, make sure you are signed up for my regular blog updates and learn what really is the right treatment to see lasting changes to our skin.
