In 1994 a young mother was inspired to create a truly organic skincare range when her daughter was struggling with severe skin allergies and eczema which resulted in the launch of her skincare company Green People. I remember when my own son was born in 1997 and he began suffering with severe eczema, we tried everything to help him. He was a good baby but the eczema was so bad on his wrists that he would make his skin bleed and be unable to settle at night. We must have spent a fortune trying out different options. Charlotte Vøhtz, in the same position, searched the high street for natural products that would be gentle on her daughter's sensitive skin, but even the so called natural skincare brands used synthetic ingredients which can aggravate sore skin. Charlotte realised that we are all children of the chemical age and that man-made chemicals are found everywhere, this combined with our changing dietary habits, means the affect has been massive. As I can testify from my own experience. Fast forward 25 years or so and consumers are much more knowledgeable about what goes into the products they buy. And natural is increasingly an essential requirement on our list when looking at beauty products. I gave the 'natural' vs 'synthetic' dilemma some thought a while back when I did a review of Tropic skincare vs Liz Earle. My conclusion .... From doing a little bit of research it does seem to be that even the experts are divided and in the end it comes down to personal choice and finding a product that works for you and that you love But without a doubt those with skin allergies and eczema really do need a natural product, my son has to be very careful what he uses, even now, and the wrong product can cause a flare-up and very sore skin. And our pets are no different, I have two Westies (West Highland White Terriers) notorious for having skin conditions like atopic dermatitis which can cause irritation meaning they want to scratch and lick their skin causing it to become very aggravated. Charlotte Vøhtz launched Green People in 1997 and the brand has gone on to become one of the most trusted in the industry. Green People offer a range of certified organic products packed with up to 99% active natural and organic ingredients to protect, nourish, balance and most importantly, respect your body. Green People got in touch with me to ask if my two Westies, Katy and Bonnie would like to try out one of the new dog shampoos they stock and of course they wouldn't leave me out and I received the Cha Vøhtz Age Defy+ Beauty Set to try myself. I mentioned this briefly in my recent Mother's Day Gift ideas post! Use the code SPRING15 for 15% off if you spend over £25 (and get free delivery). For Katy and Bonnie we chose the AllPaws Cleansing Dog Shampoo in Wild Mint, it is a mild foaming, pH balanced, organic shampoo that won't irritate sensitive skin, and it contains a soothing blend of mint and eucalyptus do deodorise my smelly pair of pups! Katy and Bonnie have to have a shower quite regularly as they are white and we live in the woods, the very muddy woods at the moment! And I am not impressed if they get too smelly! They enjoyed their shower with the AllPaws shampoo and I can report that it didn't irritate their skin and they did smell lovely and feel very soft afterwards. They always get more cuddles when they are clean! Green People have an extra sensitive shampoo too, the AllPaws Sensitive Dog Shampoo is scent free and suitable for dogs that cannot tolerate essential oils and for owners with especially sensitive skin. And I have really enjoyed using the Age Defy+ products in the beauty set sent to me. It contained a facial oil and a serum as well as a sample size sleep mask. The beauty gift set makes a really lovely present. The Collagen Boost Vitamin C Serum is full sized, it is a collagen boosting, vitamin C serum with a blend of anti-ageing Bakachi oil and hydrating Hyaluronic acid. Then there is a deluxe sample-size version of the Rosehip oil skin-regenerator and a sachet of the Hydra-Glow skin-nutrient sleep mask. I loved all three products in the set. The oil lasted me for a week and the sleep mask I was able to use for two nights. The serum glides on so easily and is well absorbed, my skin felt soft and the bottle is lasting really well. I don't have particularly sensitive skin but reading through others reviews, it does seem to be really well tolerated for those with sensitivities. The scent from all the products is gentle and very pleasant. The products felt luxurious and look great on my dressing table too! Green People really do have a vast range of products. I think the sun screen and after sun range would be worth a try. Both my son and my husband burn easily and have sensitive skin, my husband can get prickly heat and has to be careful what products he uses. This range will be on my list to pack when we can finally book a summer holiday! Do take a look around their website, there is so much choice, shampoos, make-up, skin care, body care, men, pets and children. And a blemish range for teenage skin. Today's walk! Thought I'd get out there while the sun is out, it has been a beautiful spring day and makes us all feel so much better. The mud is drying out but sadly rain is due. The details on my outfit today - the jumper is from the new season at The White Company, it is the Ribbed Sleeve Jumper with Cashmere and I am wearing it with a Gilet from Massimo Dutti both current season. My coated jeans are from Mango, trainers from Vionic and my scarf is my mum's. I know for some Mother's Day can be really really difficult and I sadly won't be able to see my own mum on Sunday, for reasons that I only touch on very briefly on my blog, but please accept my love and best wishes whatever your circumstances. My daughter will be popping home from Bath and I believe we have afternoon tea being delivered from Strawberry Grove! Love from Michelle xx Disclaimer: I was gifted these products from Green People to try out, my blog review is entirely my own words and opinion.
