I did 14 Hypoxi sessions at Dorota's Lifestyle Studio in Chiswick over a 4 week period and I am delighted with my results, it wasn't always easy to get to my sessions, there is certainly a time commitment, but I lost 17.5 cm from my mid section and I learnt that I can fit exercise into my increasingly busy schedule! You can read more about What is Hypoxi? on my earlier blog post but basically Hypoxi helps your body's natural fat burning with low impact, low intensity exercise and vacuum compression technology to increase the circulation where needed. Hypoxi supercharges what your body does naturally and independent studies show Hypoxi to be 3 x more effective than regular exercise. It is particularly good for skin health, improving skin tone and reducing cellulite due to its ability to target the extremities! Hypoxi is good for weight/inch loss, body shaping and it is one of the best cellulite treatments. Hypoxi is also a gentle form of exercise that anyone can do, even if you are unfit and hate exercise and age is no barrier ... Dorota has one client in her 80's! This blog post is part of a gifted collaboration. Before Hypoxi ...I had got very lazy with any sort of exercise routine, the lockdown pounds had failed to miraculously disappear and summer was approaching, I needed a serious dose of motivation. I don't love exercise, and make no secret of this, and especially sweaty cardio sessions or anything where I have to jump up and down! My home gym had become a storage space for my out of season clothes and a lot of my wardrobe was feeling a bit tight. My excuse for not exercising was I don't have time. After Hypoxi ...I am not going to do the 'before and after' pics and I am not a fan of measuring success by the number on the scales either. In fact as you can see from my results. below, my weight didn't really change. But my measurements did change and most importantly I feel better, I feel like my mid section has toned, lifted and shrunk! Clothes feel loser and I am excited to choose a new bikini for my summer. holidays. And I feel motivated to carry on with an exercise plan again. My log cabin has been tidied out and unwanted clothes are in the process of being sent to Thrift+ for re-sale. My home gym equipment can be seen once again! The biggest change is in my mindset though, I have given myself a serious talking to, if I can manage to drive to Chiswick, workout and drive back - each Hypoxi session takes an hour and of course I live about 40 minutes away, so my time commitment was about 3 hours on 2 or 3 afternoons a week, then surely I can do a home workout in my log cabin for 30 minutes 3 x a week? My diet has had a little overhaul with a reminder that protein based meals with no carbs or low carbs are really good for me! After a Hypoxi session you should not eat for 2 hours then your meal should be high protein only with no carbs for 6 hours in total. Formostar Infrared body wrapI also tried out the Formostar infrared body wrap at Dorota's Lifestyle Studio. I only had one session and a course would be recommended for maximum results but I was interested to try it out and report on how it felt! The infrared body wrap will cause your core temperature to increase, which can also lead to an increase in heart rate - the same increase in heart rate that you experience when exercising. When your body has to work harder to lower your body temperature or to keep up with an increased heart rate, it will burn more calories, resulting in weight loss. As well as weight loss it can also help with detoxification, general wellbeing, pain relief, improved circulation and skin purification. You can burn up to 1200 calories in one 50 minute session. It is a very good treatment and therapy for Fibromyalgia sufferers. It gets hot, very hot! Dorota advised me to wear long leggings and a long sleeve t-shirt, preferably cotton and to avoid wearing any fastenings or labels on my clothes. Then she wrapped the special silicon pads around me and set the timer .... the heat builds up slowly and Dorota instructed me to call her if I got at all uncomfortable. The first 30 minutes is the warm up and feels relaxing then the last 20 minutes when the body has reached core temperature it will start to cool down by releasing sweat! I felt relaxed after my session, I was glad of a change of clothing as you do get very sweaty and I am not a sweaty person at all! But this is so much nicer than a sweaty cardio session in the gym! It is possible to lose an average of 6-7 kg after 10 sessions on Formostar and it is ideal combined with Hypoxi sessions for maximum results. Outfit: All Day Leggings in 7/8 Length and Athletes Seamless Vest from Sweaty Betty. I am now planning to get back to some strength training, I love the definition it gives me, especially on my arms, shoulders and legs. And I love the benefits that strength training provides in midlife and beyond including improved bone health, better cardiovascular health, higher energy levels and increased flexibility. Can I maintain my results and my enthusiasm to keep up with workouts? Only time will tell but I will let you know!
