A few months ago I wrote a blog post about Green People and introduced my lovely readers to their AgeDefy+ range . It is an inspirational story about a young mother who created a truly organic skincare range when her daughter was struggling with severe skin allergies and eczema. Well that daughter is now grown up and just as keen as her mother to focus on natural and organic health and has created her own wellness range. Alexandra Kay has Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (EDS) and her new essential oils range at Green People is dedicated to those wanting to improve their general wellbeing as well as supporting those with chronic illness and fatigue. What is Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (EDS)?EDS is an inherited condition that affects the connective tissues in the body responsibly for supporting and structuring the skin, blood vessels, bones and organs. The result is a defect in collagen production. There are 13 major types of EDS and each type affects a different area of the body. But they all have one thing in common, they cause hyper mobility which is an unusually large range of movement in the joints. There are lots of debilitating symptoms of EDS but the main ones include muscle pain and muscle fatigue, fragile skin and skin that bruises easily, loose joints, benign growths on pressure areas like elbows and and knees and heart valve problems. May is EDS Awareness Month and Ehlers-Danlos Support UK have lots of information and resources to help understand the syndrome. The diagnosis of EDS is too often a long and challenging journey not helped by a lack of awareness within the medical community. Alexandra Kay has launched three natural essential oil blends and will be donating 10% of net profits to Ehlers-Danlos Support UK which is a small UK charity who work to improve the quality of life for people living with EDS. Alexandra is the daughter of Green People's founder, Charlotte and Alexandra was diagnosed with EDS very recently after many years of symptoms. And inspired by her mother, Alexandra became determined to help others with a similar diagnosis. She has combined her personal experience of seeking comfort from natural wellness techniques with her mother's expertise in essential oils and created a new range of natural wellbeing products that help give balance back to those in need of comfort, calm and optimism. If you purchase an Alexander Kay pure essential oil blend then the donation from the sale will be used to help EDS UK work across the UK to support, advise and inform those living with the condition and the medical teams that work with them. And raising awareness of EDS is really important to support their incredible work. TIME TO SMILE Pure Essential Oil Blend by Alexandra KayGreen People kindly gifted me a TIME TO SMILE Pure Essential Oil Blend by Alexandra Kay to try out. And if you remember a few weeks ago I was raising money for my friends daughter Jessica. Well part of Jess's diagnosis includes EDS and so Green People also kindly sent her a TIME TO SMILE too. TIME TO SMILE Pure Essential Oil Blend is an uplifting blend promoting happiness and harmony by balancing and clarifying the emotions. This blend is perfect to help revitalise the mind. A gentle aid to promote balance and positivity TIME TO SMILE blends Sweet Orange, Cedarwood and Lemon to revive energy levels and inspire optimism. The other two blends in the new range are TIME TO RELAX and TIME TO SLEEP Pure Essential Oil Blend. How to use essential oil blends ...My favourite way to enjoy is aromatically, by breathing them in as it is particularly beneficial for managing mood. Either make a room spray or use in a diffuser. You can apply essential oils to the skin but they must be diluted with a base or carrier oil first - I use fractionated coconut oil. Or add a few drops to your pillow before sleeping. Use as a hot or cold compress. Add 6-8 drops to your bath! Apply 1-2 drops to a tissue or cloth and inhale as required. For instructions on how to use essential oils you can read more here. I love using essential oils in my home, for their gorgeous natural scent and their relaxing therapeutic properties. I have two electric diffusers, one upstairs and own downstairs and the oils can really help lift my mood and relax me. Good luck to Alexandra with her new venture. Such an inspiration and supporting a good cause too. The oil blends are available to buy at Green People and are £20 each or save £20 if you buy all three for £40. Perfect gift for someone who needs to take TIME TO SMILE. Love from Michelle xx Outfit details: my off the shoulder jumper is from Hush Homewear and they have similar this year in different colours.
