Just bringing you a few random thoughts and musings on how life looks like for me and my family whilst 'enjoying' coronavirus lockdown 2020!
I was chatting to my accountant yesterday and he asked me how it was going, I said well to be honest it isn't much different for me, he summed it up "you've been training for the last 22 years for lockdown"! Well yes, as I have mentioned before I have been a mostly stay at home mum so being at home is fairly normal life for me. However I was gradually getting used to an emptier nest and had been looking forward to my son vacating his room when he purchased his own flat, which was imminent, but is now delayed. I had plans to create a spare room come walk-in wardrobe and was looking forward to having all my clothes in one place and even considering being brave and doing more blog videos. But I am very happy that my son is safely at home with me so that can wait. Having my daughter home from uni has meant I have my little photographer on tap, well she does like to complain a little but on the whole is very happy to help me. I am more relaxed in my photos with Emily helping, and we can do fun things like this one below! Here I am rocking a wrap skirt* from Roman Originals (now on sale, reduced to £10.80 and available in a 10 and 12), the Daisy pumps* from Hotter Shoes (currently 20% off) and a lace camisole vest from The Wendy House (details below).

One of my indulgences is to get a regular manicure and pedicure at my local salon, No 21 Beauty Within. I love chatting with my nail technician Jane and of course I like to keep my hands, feet and nails in good condition and looking gorgeous. I get bio-sculpture gel nails every 2-3 weeks and then I have a pedicure and again bio-sculpture applied every couple of months. My favourite nail colour is red!
But like the rest of the UK (and most of the world) I can't go to my salon at the moment as it is closed due to the coronavirus pandemic. I did get my nails done before lockdown so I am good for another week I hope! Recently B-Line Beauty got in touch to ask if I would like to try out some of their feet treatments (gifted*), I agreed the timing was perfect and an 'at home pedicure' would be very welcome. Although my day to day life hasn't changed much while we are all staying home during the pandemic I am wearing more comfortable workout clothes and I'm missing my dressing up days for London trips or lunch with my girlfriends. I do feel a bit down today, I am trying to see the positives of course and thank goodness for my daily walk in the woods, that really does clear my head.
Tonight we have a family zoom call, my nephew has organised a 'virtual pub quiz' so I am looking forward to that, a glass of wine and lasagne for dinner! On my post today I am sharing my new Vionic active trainers and my workout gear plus a few ideas for home workouts. And my photos feature my two cute westies, Katie and Bonnie, who are loving extra walks and having us at home. How are you all getting on? How are you coping with staying at home? When I started making notes for my 'being fifty and fab' post earlier in March I never imagined how much our day to day lives would change in such a short time. It seems a bit odd to be talking about the outings I had earlier in the month! But I am so glad that I did manage to fit in some of these things. My days now consist of tidying up after my family, wondering if I can log onto Ocado and update my shopping list, getting out for my daily walk, deciding what to cook for dinner, and have I got all the ingredients. Oh and trying to escape the noise caused by my husband running his business from home and the constant telephone calls. But I am still very busy, I've not yet had time to sit and watch TV or read the books I have piling up. |
