Although my day to day life hasn't changed much while we are all staying home during the pandemic I am wearing more comfortable workout clothes and I'm missing my dressing up days for London trips or lunch with my girlfriends. I do feel a bit down today, I am trying to see the positives of course and thank goodness for my daily walk in the woods, that really does clear my head. Tonight we have a family zoom call, my nephew has organised a 'virtual pub quiz' so I am looking forward to that, a glass of wine and lasagne for dinner! On my post today I am sharing my new Vionic active trainers and my workout gear plus a few ideas for home workouts. And my photos feature my two cute westies, Katie and Bonnie, who are loving extra walks and having us at home. The last couple of weeks of coronavirus lockdown I have been wearing jeans and jumpers or my workout gear. I wear proper shoes at home, not slippers, mostly trainers and I keep a pair for in the house/garden. That way I always feel like I am properly dressed. My tee shirt is from Mama Life London and features the slogan 'life is tough my darling, but so are you'. I do my workouts now in my log cabin with a small selection of weights. I am not keen on cardio and have never enjoyed running but I am getting out for more walks. We live in the woods so I don't need to drive anywhere. My leggings (below) are from Sweaty Betty (sale purchase) and my jacket is previous season Mango. I have been trying to decide what actual workouts to follow though. There are so many free videos on YouTube and even more being offered now PT's and Gyms cannot operate in the normal way. My friend recommended SWEAT to me which is the Kayla Itsines app, I also really like the James Smith Academy which is good if you want to learn all about nutrition and be able to put your own programme together. Another good one is from Julia Buckley, she has an online gym and I have her book The Fat Burn Revolution which has really detailed guidance in it. If you like Pilates then I was sent details of the niix fitness for women app which I've not tried yet but it does look good. And Laura from Zenergy Active is offering online Pilates classes too - all the details are on her website and you can read about her Zen Den on my blog post here. I've been trying to decide exactly what workout format to follow and I have tried a few different options. I have a programme my PT wrote for me last year which is still my favoured one to follow as I know the exercises and I know I have the right weights. But I have decided to adapt it for some variety with new exercises from my Julia Buckley book. And I think I will add in a weekly Pilates class as well. If I can find the time!! I was lucky enough to be gifted* a pair of trainers recently from Vionic. I've had a lot of their trainers and shoes but this is the first time I have had a pair of their active trainers more suitable for working out in. These are the Maya Active Trainer in French Rose. Every pair of Vionic shoes features a contoured footbed that hugs your feet for all-day comfort, they provide support you can feel and they are also so stylish. And I do wear my Vionic's all day, they really are very very comfortable. Each pair has a concealed biomechanical support and/or are podiatrist designed which is why they feel so comfortable. Are you trying to fit more exercise in while at home? I'm pretty glad my children are older and don't need home educating! And I hear we have some warmer weather on the way, a few hours in the garden relaxing will be perfect, and I might be tempted to dig out some of my spring wardrobe too.
Have a lovely weekend. Love from Michelle xx Disclaimer: Vionic kindly gifted* me the maya trainers and asked if I would like to try them out and share my thoughts on an instagram post. My opinions are entirely my own.
