My daily make up routine with Trinny London

19/4/2023

Who doesn't love Trinny?  I remember her and Susannah way back when on What Not to Wear and loved tuning in every week.  That, along with The Clothes Show, was my first foray into loving fashion.  Then Trinny burst onto our instagram feeds with her fun styling and beauty posts and unique enthusiasm, energy and sassiness.  How does she do it??!  And now we are all loving her make up brand Trinny London.  When I shared on my insta-stories that I was trying it out for a blog review, my son's girlfriend messaged to say she absolutely loves Trinny and her make up brand and it struck me as a huge sign of success that Trinny London appeals to all ages, us 50 something's and a 20 year old student.

I was really delighted when Trinny London got in touch to ask if I'd like to choose a few items from their make up and skincare range and do a blog review!  Trinny Woodall launched Trinny London back in October 2017 with just her 'stack' concept but it quickly evolved.  I went for a consultation at their new beauty counter at Fenwick on Bond Street in 2018 and loved my purchases and they became a firm favourite in my make up bag.

So to have a chance to add to my existing items and try out even more of the ever-expanding Trinny London range was fantastic!

Simple make up routine with Trinny London
Here is what Trinny London sent me to try out ....

BFF Serum De-Stress (tinted)

A skincare serum with buildable coverage, designed to be worn alone or on top of BFF Cream or with Just A Touch.  Designed to instantly awaken tired looking skin and protect skin from daily life stress.  Hyaluronic acid instantly plumps and smooths to leave your skin looking fresh, radiant and well-rested.

What I thought ... loved this so much more than I anticipated I would!  I am a foundation lover and don't believe I can manage without but this really does have a buildable coverage, it feels smooth, hydrating and is easy to apply.  My skin looks flawless with this added to my routine.  My only comment is that you still need to use an SPF with it.  I have been using the ZO Skin Health SPF+Primer from ERA Clinic which I love because of it's 12-hour time release complex (no need to top up), Trinny London also do a BFF SPF30 Skin Perfector and Trinny recommends applying this first.

I have since tried the BFF Cream Skin Perfector SPF30 and love it!  A perfect based product with SPF it is definitely a glow-booster and can be used under foundation or alone.

BFF Eye Serum Concealer (tinted)

Designed to both conceal and care for the under eye area.  With Hyaluronic Acid to deliver immediate hydration and peptides and Vitamin C to brighten the eye area.  Light and non-creasing and with a Zamac tip to provide a cooling effect.

What I thought ... another winner!  I don't suffer from bad dark circles and tend not to use a concealer but this one I felt had the added bonus of the serum to treat my eye area and that made sense to me!  I love the Zamac tip, I squeeze a small amount out so it is visible, apply and then tap gently under my eyes with my finger to blend into my skin.

Trinny London Makeup - trying out new products from her ever-expanding range!

Trinny London Stacks

This is where Trinny London started and is now an iconic make-up concept that everyone is loving!  The original stack I purchased back in 2018 has been slightly modified and improved and I love how all the little pots slot together and can be unscrewed wherever you need to access your desired pot!

The stack is designed for ease and ideal for travelling!  I tested this out when I was away for a night and wanting to travel light and pack less.  I didn't take my make up bag, I just took the basics and my stack.  Amazing, so easy and the make up looks fantastic, it is light, natural and easy to apply.

I chose the starter 'Fresh Face' Trinny London stack for this review.  It contains Eye2Eye, Lip2Cheek and LipGlow.  Trinny London really is fuss free, no need for brushes (or worrying about cleaning them).  Apply with your fingertips.  I thought this might be difficult, it isn't!  And I love the dual use in some of the products like the Lip2Cheek for ... lips and cheeks!!

What I thought ... I chose Eye2Eye in Mystery, I like a simple make-up routine and with small eyes that can get uncomfortable from being dry (menopause) and watery (hayfever) I tend not to wear much eye make-up (I had permanent eyeliner a while back) and when I went to a make up masterclass with Mary Greenwell and Imedeen she advised that a taupe eyeshadow is perfect everyday for everyone.  So Mystery fitted the bill!  Again I was surprised how easy applying it with your finger is - also recommended by Mary Greenwell!  I thought even my small fingers would be too fat but not at all.  The formula is silky, light  and easy to use, with buildable coverage.  And stays on.  Love. it!

For the Lip2Cheek I chose Lady J, I've not used a cream blusher (ever I don't think), I have always favoured a powder with a brush.  But I am not sure I will go back now!  A little goes a long way, it is smooth, easy and a beautiful natural colour that builds up and stays put.  I love this natural complexion boosting pot!

And the LipGlow in Bella, this delivers moisture and plumpness to your lips but feels like you are wearing nothing.  I use the Lip2Cheek first then at the end of my make-up routine I apply the LipGlow, it feels gorgeous.  I need another pot to carry around in my bag.  It is moisturising and smells amazing too!

Trinny London Concealer/Eye Contour T-Brush

I am now using the Trinny London Concealer/Eye Contour T-Brush and it is my go to everyday brush for eye primer, concealer and eye colour.  It is such a versatile brush.  I just try more in her range!

Above: Using Trinny London has allowed me to really reduce my make up bag down!  My everyday makeup routine is now much simpler and my skin is glowing.

Face Finish Mattifying Balm

This is a little pot of balm to give a flawless finish without the residue of a powder.  It will zap any shine, blur lines and smooth pores.  Use as a primer or a finisher.

What I thought ... one shade suitable for all, feels soft and easy to apply just using your fingertip.  Ideal for shine on oilier skin (not mine) I used it to blur fine lines and finish off my routine.  I already have the Miracle Blur but don't use it much, I probably don't need the coverage for lines (and even less so since starting my hydrafacials) so the Face Finish gives me a much lighter, softer option which I prefer.  Easy and again good to dispense with another brush!

Match2Me from Trinny London

Even before shops closed and we couldn't visit the beauty counters and try testers, Trinny London had launched their Match2Me service.  And it is brilliant.  Input your details online, and it creates a personal colour profile.  Leave this option switched on and every product you look at will only show you the colours that suit you.  So no searching around to work out which one is best.  It is saved under your profile and always there when you need it.

And you can shop by LookBook ... the Match2Me shows you models with similar colouring to you and you can browse their looks and buy the make up.

I still have my original stack from 2018 (not sure about shelf life here)!!!  I have the Just A Touch which I use as a light foundation and concealer.  The Right Light Highlighter which I use most days to enhance my skin and the Golden Glow Bronzer which I use less often but it is perfect for sunny days and holidays and adds a sun-kissed glow.

What more can I say?  I think Trinny London is a total winner and deserves it's cult status and big fan club.  It is natural, easy make up at it's best.

And I love the Trinny Tips (T-Tip) provided in online videos and on the stack boxes.

I thought. I would get confused as to which pot is which once added to the stack but you quickly get used to the order so I have my Eye2Eye on top (I use first) then my Lip2Cheek and the Mattifying Balm and finally the LipGlow.

If you favour a simple, easy make up routine with fantastic results, if you want to travel light or avoid the rummaging around in your make-up bag or drawer then try Trinny London.

It's for everyone!

And I don't know about you but quick, easy simple, natural make up I think looks way prettier than the ongoing trend for heavy eyes, false eyelashes and other enhancements.

Love from
Michelle x

I'm intrigued by the idea of having fewer products to carry around and may try a stack! I am on holiday soon so this appeals to me. I love Trinny's videos on Instagram and how she changes her lipsticks and blushers to instantly look great with the colours of her outfits.
