Many years ago, I was suffering with some pain in a foot joint, my mum recommended I try dissolving some apple cider vinegar and honey in hot water every morning. It tasted pretty sharp but I did as she said and continued for quite a number of weeks. And it worked! The pain never did return. Since then I have continued to read about the benefits of 'Apple Cider Vinegar with the Mother'. So when Willy's Apple Cider Vinegar got in touch with me and asked if I'd like to try out one of their Wellness Boxes*, I was keen to find out more as I remembered my positive experience in the past. This is a gifted blog post and contains affiliate links. Benefits of Apple Cider Vinegar with 'the Mother'Apple Cider Vinegar has several health benefits, including: It can help kill bacterias and is an excellent natural cleaning product. It may help lower blood sugar levels and control diabetes. It can assist weight loss, improve digestion and reduce tummy fat. It is a probiotic and can increase healthy gut flora. It is an excellent immunity booster. It may help lower blood pressure, lower cholesterol and support heart health. Exciting stuff! I am particularly interested in the weight loss, digestion and tummy fat alongside the probiotic benefits. Several human studies show that ACV can increase feelings of fullness so you eat fewer calories, thus lose weight. The studies went on for 3 months and the average weight loss was 1.2 kg if taking 1 tablespoon per day and 1.7 kg if taking 2 tablespoons per day so it should be noted that it isn't a massive weight loss. But add that onto a healthier, more balanced diet with a calorie deficit then maybe it does support weight loss health goals. Why choose Willy's for your ACV?The founder of Willy's is already well known for his other brand launches - Tyrells Crisps, Chase Vodka & Gin and Willy's Wellness and he is very proud of the 300 year old orchards at his farm in Herefordshire. 'The Mother' in Willy's live ACV is 100% live and she is protected from the sunlight in Willy's brown glass bottles. Sustainable farming is at the heart of the Willy's brand, growing without artificial pesticides and fertilisers and letting the natural practices help nature find it's own balance. But what is Apple Cider Vinegar with the Mother?Apple Cider Vinegar is made by fermenting apple juice. Willy's have discovered that the best apples are the wonky, ripe ones that come in all shapes and sizes! The resulting Apple Cider Vinegar has been used as medicine in natural health communities for centuries. The unfiltered and unrefined vinegar with a cloudy, murky appearance is called Apple Cider Vinegar with 'The Mother' and it contains many strains of probiotic bacteria including acetobacter and lactobacillus. When the culture of bacteria is removed during filtration and refining it results in the clear and transparent Apple Cider Vinegar. How I got on with Willy's Apple Cider VinegarIn my Willy's Wellness Box I received immunity boosting, gut health goodness from ... Willy's ACV Willy's ACV Honey and Turmeric GUTonic Willy's ACV Kombucha Cans Willy's Apple Health Shot My favourite was Willy's ACV Honey and Turmeric, just adding the sweetness of the honey made it slightly less sharp when adding to a smoothie. And I loved the added health benefits from the turmeric and the black pepper is a vital ingredient as it helps with the absorption of the all important curcumin in turmeric. I did try it in hot water as a drink but I wasn't overly keen but I am a bit fussy! Including it in a smoothie was the easiest option, you can taste a hint of the vinegar but it wasn't noticeable enough to be a problem. I also loved the Kombucha, it is a gently sparkling, natural energy drink and tastes just like apple juice. I kept it in the fridge and had it with my breakfast. The Apple Health Shot is a ready to drink daily dose of ACV! It is certainly a perky pick me up! It contains the juice of one whole apple and a shot of Willy's ACV with a kick of ginger! Quite sharp but the idea is to knock it back quick!! The recommended daily dose (always diluted) is 25ml either added to warm water with honey and lemon, or in a smoothie or mixed with olive oil in a salad dressing. Left to right below: I tried the shot, I tried the honey and turmeric in hot water as a drink, and I tried the pure apple cider vinegar in orange juice but my preference is in a smoothie. Recipes using Apple Cider VinegarThe tastiest way to include Willy's ACV in your daily diet is to add it to another recipe, for me that is a smoothie bowl but there are lots of other options, an easy salad dressing (already mentioned) or making a mayonnaise maybe? If you look on the Willy's website under recipes there is a huge choice of tasty recipes. How about ACV hummus, or a refreshing non-alcoholic cocktail, or there are some simple recipes for main courses too ... apple and honey glazed gammon, roast potatoes with ACV or a spring squash salad? Have you ever included ACV in your diet? What do you think? You can find all the details about Willy's ACV on their website here. And do use the code FABWIL10 to get 10% off your order. I hope you all enjoyed the long Easter bank holiday weekend. A great post! I've long been aware of the benefits of apple cider vinegar for arthiritis but my daughter has just begun taking it for reflux problems and it's really helping. This looks like a very worthy brand to try.
