Have you ever been to Royal Ascot? I went many many years ago, pre-children, I was working as a PA and had a last minute invitation to join the VIP guests the next day. Queue panic to find a dress and hat. I fortunately had a beautiful deep pink silk dress and a big hat ready to go ....! It was really good fun but I have never been back and I really should put that right as Ascot isn't far from where we live. Next week is Royal Ascot 2020, from Tuesday 16th June to Saturday 20th June. But things are a bit different this year! Royal Ascot 2020 will be held behind closed doors but we can all join in with Royal Ascot at Home and still dress up, I thought what a fun initiative and a fabulous way to raise money. Here is all the info you need: The #StyledWithThanks CampaignAscot is inviting fans across the globe to dress up, with a hat, and take part in Royal Ascot At Home. Whether it is a ladies’ hat, men’s top hat, panama, trilby or other racing hat, simply take and share a photo on social media using the campaign hashtags #StyledWithThanks and #RoyalAscot. Every photo shared is in with the chance of winning some amazing prizes, while helping those affected by COVID-19. Participants are being encouraged to donate £5 to the campaign fundraising page, share their outfit photo and tell their friends to do the same, helping to spread the #StyledWithThanks message in recognition of those working on the frontline of the global COVID-19 crisis. Ascot has launched its appeal with a £100,000 donation. All money raised will be split between four frontline charities: The National Emergencies Trust Relief Fund, NHS Charities Together, The Care Workers Charity and the Berkshire Community Foundation Coronavirus Fund. You can donate here. My outfit was a bit thrown together, I don't have real dressy up outfits in my wardrobe, I wear a lot of dresses and hats but they tend to be more casual these days. My dress is from Karen Millen (a few years ago but lots of similar styles here) and my hat is by Powder from The Wendy House, although it is a bit casual for the dress, the colouring works really well. And my sandals are from Moda in Pelle, not sure I would actually wear them to Ascot as I doubt I could walk very far in them, they are more a going out for dinner sandal. But let's imagine for now! The little bag was a gift from my niece a few years ago. Excuse my little dog, this is Bonnie, she would usually pose a bit more but she wasn't in the posing mood it seems! My daughter said she's fine, leave her in the photos, it keeps it real. Definitely real here! Well apart from the fact, I am just dressed up for my garden and I am not actually going to Royal Ascot this year. Do join in with this campaign and donate if you can. I'd love to see your photos on Instagram, tag me too if you remember @fifty_andfab #beingfiftyandfab.
