What are the best vitamins and minerals to help with menopause symptoms?

7/2/2022

There are 34 menopausal symptoms but every woman is different and no one menopause journey will be exactly the same. As you know, I am a big supporter of women taking HRT to manage their symptoms of menopause but I am also really keen to encourage and support women’s health with natural supplements, a good diet, regular exercise and lifestyle changes to improve mental health and general wellbeing.

After starting HRT I saw a significant improvement in my overall health but the effects of hormonal imbalances, including low oestrogen, for me personally included night sweats, weight gain and bloating, mood swings, anxiety, poor sleep, decreased energy levels, and brain fog. Other common symptoms due to low hormone levels include hot flushes, vaginal dryness, low libido, irregular menstrual cycle, thinning hair, and brittle nails to name a few!

Alongside my hormone therapy, I ensure I have a healthy diet and have carefully chosen the best menopause supplements, like the Menocil supplement, to further support me. But taking several different vitamin tablets every day can be a bit of a faff!

BOMIMO is a new UK based supplement brand that has just launched a nutritional shake is specifically to support perimenopausal and postmenopausal women.

BOMIMO's (Body + Mind + Mojo) first delicious shake is the MenoShake which I have enjoyed trying out over the last couple of months.

This is a sponsored blog post.

A plant based nutritional protein shake for menopause

When our hormones are working well we are strong, determined and happy but when they are out of balance, we feel the effects on our body, our mind and our mojo (and often our libido). Our hormone imbalances prevent us from being the very best version of ourselves!

But when we get it right we are unstoppable, who doesn't want to feel leaner, stronger, happier, more energised, more vital and sexier? I know I do!

The MenoShake is 100% natural and provides a combination of essential vitamins and minerals, plant-based proteins and super foods, botanicals and herbs and other ingredients to support weight management.

Created by women for women, BOMIMO was founded in lockdown by Samantha Williams and all the MenoShake has have been formulated by Registered Nutritionist Shona Wilkinson.

Vitamins, micronutrients and herbs

So what fabulous vitamins, micronutrients and herbs does the MenoShake contain?

Firstly it is reinforced with essential vitamins including the B Vitamins, Vitamin B5, B6 & B12, Vitamin E and Vitamins C, D and K2 plus essential minerals including Zinc, Calcium and Magnesium.

It also includes botanical herbs specifically chosen to manage the symptoms of the menopause, including Red Clover, Wild Yam, Ginseng Extract and Ashwagandha.

Finally, metabolism boosting ingredients such as Green Tea extract, Flaxseed and Psyllium Husk powder have been included to support weight loss.

Protein, fibre and collagen

The BOMIMO MenoShake is high in plant proteins, packed with fibre and is an excellent pure collagen source. Including more protein in my diet is one of my priorities as it reduces appetite and hunger, keeping me fuller for longer, it also increases muscle mass and strength and is good for bone health, it lowers blood pressure and helps keep us fit as we get older.

"A lot of women are not aware that there are certain periods in their life when they need more protein, for example during pregnancy, breastfeeding and also menopause." says registered nutritionist Shona Wilkinson.  "Women in the menopause see a decrease in muscle mass, but with the right amount of protein in their diet, they can prevent this."  Each serving of the MenoShake mixed with milk or water contains 13g of protein and only 75 kcal.  You can read more about the power of protein on the BOMIMO blog.

All your daily nutrient needs

One MenoShake packet provides 20 x 25g servings and each serving will give you all of your daily nutrient needs - this is what really appeals to me, no more taking all the tablets which I often forget, drop or can't be bothered!

I found the MenoShake to be easy to use, one 25g scoop mixed with oat milk as a delicious afternoon snack or as a meal replacement shake, it easily kept any hunger at bay and I loved the chocolaty flavour which isn't too overpowering and it isn't too sweet either. You can mix it with water or a milk of your choice, I preferred to add milk as it gave a thicker, creamier texture.

The MenoShake can be taken alongside HRT (if you take HRT) to provide physical and mental balance and support optimal health.  It is easy to include in your daily routine and contains all your daily nutrients in one go.

I believe that carefully chosen supplements are a really good health insurance policy and the best way to support our wellbeing as we approach our 50's and beyond.

The shake looks so thick and creamy. Great that it’s not more tablets as well.
