Last week I posted about buying my first Louis Vuitton handbag - take a look here, but it got me thinking about how my tastes have changed regarding jewellery and accessories as I have got older! In my handbag post I said it had been a toss up between a designer handbag and a diamond necklace for my 50th birthday - I had decided on the diamond. What I've noticed is that I now prefer simplicity. I want simple outfits with simple accessories. Classy, chic, stylish. A uniform of sorts. I am still working on perfecting the capsule wardrobe but I have a much clearer idea of what I like these days. My jewellery drawer has had a good sort out and will be culled even more in the coming weeks as I sort out my wardrobe for the new season. I no longer want statement necklaces or beads, I want simple gold or silver jewellery that can be worn every day, that can be layered and that goes with everything. I am currently loving my Nomination bracelets. I have two, one with charms and one just a simple style to co-ordinate and layer as a stack with my other bracelets which include some Tiffany beads and a Hot Diamonds chain with heart. I have a silver Pandora ring, and of course my diamond engagement ring. I love my Olivia Burton watch and as they are such reasonable prices I am very tempted to get another one to add another colour option! So that is me keeping it simple! Hope it gives you some ideas! And don't forget this week I have an exclusive 15% discount at Sweat-Bea - an excellent online scarf and accessories shop - use the code FIFTYANDFAB15 at check out. I love their bracelets, if you like my Tiffany beads, Sweat-Bea have lots of really simple styles here. Love Michelle xx PS How gorgeous are the colours of these new scarves in at Sweet-Bea?! I might just have to use my discount again before Monday! FIFTYANDFAB15

Hi Jackie, lovely to hear from you! Oh yes I had such a lovely time choosing the bag. Last year when I decided I wanted one I looked in the LV store at Westfield Shepherds Bush and ruled out the Neverfull (too open and don't like shoulder bags). I decided I liked the Turenne as it was different, yes fairly easy to access but with the option of the zip and it does have a cross body strap if you want it (I am unlikely to use it) - I found the girls really really helpful and not at all snobby or trying to sell to me, they happily wrote the details down. I then looked again when I went to Harrods for my birthday (I needed to be sure LOL) and again was really looked after and no pressure. Not intimidating at all., When I finally went to buy the sales assistants were great - I was honest with them and said this is a one-off purchase that I will treasure, I am not ultra rich and here to spend loads, they were so lovely. Mind you having said that, one day I'd love one of the smaller cross body styles! So my advice would be yes go window shopping and ask for advice .... and enjoy! I went to Harrods alone and I had a really perfect day out xx
