Hi everyone! How did half term go? Or have most of my readers left school holidays behind? My daughter finishes sixth form this summer so although she is now independent we still enjoy time together at half term and school holidays. This week we treated ourselves to some mother and daughter time at Nirvana Spa near Wokingham. I have a membership with Nirvana Spa that allows me three visits a year (Monday to Thursday) and last year I didn't manage to use them all but I was able to carry one over on this occasion. My membership is great but I don't think they offer this package any more, but always worth taking a look to see what they are offering as a membership makes more frequent visits much more cost effective. This was my first visit since the new Colosseum Suite opened. Nirvana are currently investing into more expansion plans and I think a hotel on site is in the pipeline for the future which I think will make a fabulous addition. We arrived about 11 am and were welcomed at the members entrance, we hire a robe and a towel for a nominal fee but you can change these throughout the day for dry ones with no extra cost. I always take a small bag to carry essentials like my book, headphones etc and we take our own flip flops to wear around the spa. We made straight for the main Roman Pool which has a nice outlook over the Spa Garden - I love it if the weather is good when we visit - I have used the outside pool as late as the end of October! Not this time though as it hasn't opened yet for the summer months. Because the new Colosseum Suite has opened this area was much quieter than usual and we were able to find sun loungers to relax on with a cup of tea! Then it was time for lunch, Nirvana have extended the restaurant with a patio area that can be used with the cover in the colder months but opened up during the summer months. Last week was mild and sunny so it was a treat to sit with the sun streaming in. They have a full menu as well as a very extensive salad bar and hot buffet which is what I usually choose. And of course you can enjoy a glass of wine or prosecco if you want to! After lunch it was time to explore and enjoy the new Colosseum Suite ... it has a beautiful central, circular pool - it is a Balneotherapy Pool - which means the gently moving water is warm and super oxygenated making it a wonderful place to relax and rejuvenate, there are plenty of places to sit within the pool and it is spacious and it wasn't too busy so we were able to lie back and chat. There are two seating areas, on the ground floor around the main pool and on the balcony overlooking the pool, we chose to sit upstairs looking down. It is quite warm but oh so very relaxing and the sun lounger chairs are comfortable and perfect for an afternoon of reading, relaxing and chatting to my daughter. On other visits I have had treatments (best to book well in advance), Nirvana have a fabulous selection or I have done workshops (usually skincare or make-up) - there is so much to do it is entirely up to you whether you just relax or explore their facilities and treatments, this visit was about relaxing for us! My swimsuit is from Swimwear365 - Navy Polka Dot Swimsuit by LASCANA £45. I have just started reading Unscripted by Claire Handscombe, I am reviewing this book for my blog so I will let you know soon how I got on - I revealed the cover on my blog a little while back - you can find the details here. Thank you so much to my daughter for being such a fabulous daughter and friend and for putting up with me needing photos for my blog! We did have a super day together! If you live near enough, do treat yourself to a day at Nirvana Spa from time to time, it is so worth stepping away from routine for the day and indulging in the all important me time. Fellow blogger Katy also has a great spa day recommendation perfect for mums who need to get away - have a read. Love Michelle xx Disclaimer: This is not a sponsored post. I usually wear casual 'athleisure' clothes to arrive and depart Nirvana - here I am wearing my favourite Hush harem trousers with a pink sweat top from The White Company and pink scarf from Sweet Bea (similar here).
