I love the uncomplicated and fabulous, cruelty free and vegan friendly makeup from Code Beautiful - and this year Code Beautiful are celebrating 10 years of helping women like us feel naturally beautiful everyday. I don't do drawers full of makeup products or spend hours at makeup counters, I don't wear heavy makeup or fuss about constantly touching up! And I find the range of colours from the big brands gives me too much choice and it just confuses me. The most important thing for me is a fresh look and easy routine, with buildable coverage I can add to for special occasions. With fine lines and mature skin, I am well aware that the simpler the better, and I love the makeup tips from Code Beautiful, they regularly share makeup techniques to flatter older skin with a natural look being the top priority! Code Beautiful was founded in 2014 by two sisters, Sarah and Emma. They were fed up with products that over-promised and under-delivered so they started by asking women what they wanted, listening to feedback and then creating the right products. No trends, no hype, no nonsense, just products that perform and enhance our natural beauty. So I won't complicate my blog post either ... I will go straight into telling you about my favourite products from Code Beautiful. Use my code FIFTY20 for 20% off EVERYTHING at Code Beautiful. This is a gifted blog post and contains affiliate links. CODE LLE Lid Lift Enhance - eyeshadow base, eyeshadow, highlighter, bronzer and concealer The most fantastic eyeshadow for over 50 ... I think this was the first product that Code Beautiful sent me to try and I was converted! Perfect for tired eyes and dark circles CODE LLE really is multitasking at it's best. It works well on the hooded eye that often develops around the eye area as we mature, my eyes have always been small and slightly hooded and I find that CODE LLE really does lift them. Use as an eyeshadow or an eyeshadow primer, apply with fingertips or a brush and no need for any further eye makeup if you don't want to! Also use as a concealer on dark circles on the under-eye area, and on dark spots on the face and to add to the inner corners of your eyes to make you look more awake. CODE LLE comes in three shades for different skin tones or for different uses - I use the lightest, Fairer Soul, as a concealer and eyeshadow but I was also sent the darker shade, Dark Moments, to try as a highlighter, bronzer and eyeshadow. It worked so well, I need to master my application techniques but I loved using this shade to to add more definition to my eye area. Remember a little bit goes a long way and that CODE LLE lasts for ages! You can see it in action on my Instagram (reel on Friday and story highlights). CODE NBD Natural Brow Definer - for brows I had my eyebrows tattooed recently but you do still need a little something to tidy and define eyebrows, mine are no longer sparse and the shape is perfect but I love using the CODE NBD to add definition and boost shine. Simple, easy and quick, better than a brow pencil, it comes in three shades, black, brown and bronze. CODE FFL and CODE VLM Forget Fake Lashes and Volumising Lengthening Mascara) - for lashes First step is to apply CODE FFL, it is a pre-mascara lash plumper, created for people with short, sparse lashes or those that want a fake look but naturally! It will make your mascara work harder and prevent flaking and smudging. It also nourishes, hydrates and conditions your eyelashes. Then use CODE VLM, it is the only mascara you will ever need, it is now the only one I ever use, it adds volume, lengthens and thickens, is water resistant so you can work out in the gym or have a good cry and not look like a panda. I love it, try it, honestly a fantastic mascara! CODE SSL Soft Smooth Lip Liner - for lips Yes! A lip liner that works for mature women, that sharpens with a simple click and doesn't make a mess on the carpet, it comes in a one shade which works for all and is a lip liner, lipstick and lip plumper. It really is smooth to apply, lasts and works on everyone. Use to line lips then fill in as much or as little as you want. My absolute best lip liner ever! CODE HTG Hydrate Tint Glow - for cheeks and lips The perfect cream blush in three beautiful shades. My favourite is African Ruby but Pink Quartz and Peach Moonstone are gorgeous too, this is a little miracle balm in a tiny pot for a one minute makeup routine - apply in the morning, then take it with you for touch ups. You can use it on your cheeks and on your lips. It is buildable so start with a gentle sweep for a quick and natural softer look or build to a deeper colour for evenings and special occasions. Soft and easy to apply it creates a silky satin finish which is hydrating and gives a dewy look. And finally CODE LIP Lip Intense Plumper - for lips This is a lip plumping treatment which hydrates and plumps lips for a long-lasting look. It contains hyaluronic acid to plump and was created for people that want to reduce fine lines and have a more defined pout! There is no temporary swell or intense sensation, just a lovely glossy look for kissable lips! For best results apply daily for at least two weeks. You can find all these Code Beautiful products here and don't forget to use my code fifty-15 to get 15% off your order. And a few other makeup application tips .... Make sure you have a good base starting with SPF then the right foundation, I use Estée Lauder Double Wear, as I like a full coverage, a foundation brush will give a flawless finish and keeps oils and bacteria from your fingers from clogging your pores, but remember to clean your brushes regularly! Pro tip, use a nude eyeliner - like Charlotte Tilbury Rock n Kohl Eye Cheat - to brighten the face and make your eyes look bigger and more awake. A dark brown on the bottom lash line can make eyes look smaller and drawn down but white has the reverse effect. Use a finishing spray on your entire face like the Urban Decay All Nighter, it is a waterproof setting spray that helps your makeup last for up to 16 hours! If you have thin eyebrows, consider tattooing, I had powder brows at Tracie Giles and I am absolutely delighted with them. And some other fabulous beauty buys ... I still love Pillow Talk lipstick from Charlotte Tilbury. And I keep a Clinique Chubby Stick for Lips in my handbag. The Trinny London brushes are fantastic, on my Instagram makeup tutorial I used the Trinny London Conceal/Eye Contour T-Brush, it is experty angled to reach just where you need it to, it easily blends eye makeup and I find it works amazingly with CODE LLE. Try the new Trinny London Be Your Best Enzyme Balm Cleanser, it is amazing at cleansing your face, it removes makeup and you can use on your eyes too, it will boost radiance and nourish your skin, and it is refillable! Code Beautiful products last ages! I love their easy, multitasking approach to makeup that works! It is now my 'go to' makeup brand..
Don't forget to use fifty-15 for 15% off and follow them on Instagram for lots of makeup tips and tutorials. Love from Michelle xx Disclaimer: this blog post contains affiliate links and gifted products from Code Beautiful and Trinny London.
