How to measure your bra size | bra fitting online with Nudea

Did you know that 80% of bra-wearers are wearing the wrong size bra?  80%?! Thats really high!  But I suppose if we are always in a rush, grabbing a bra as we fly through the High Street or ordering online, we don't stop and think about it.  Nudea is a beautiful new sustainable lingerie brand founded by two women with an aim to create amazing underwear that fits, and is stylish and comfortable.  They wanted to design a bra for the modern woman with no compromises - and their underwear range looks great but feels great too.

How to use the Nudea Fit Tape to measure your bra size at home

It is so simple, first. of all order your Nudea Fit Tape from the Nudea, it costs £5 but it comes with a free Virtual Fitting and it is redeemable against your first order of a bra or a bra and briefs set plus you will also receive 15% off your first purchase!

To do your measure, wear a lightweight soft bra or bralette if you can, something without too much padding.

Step One - Measure your Underband

First you wrap the tape around your body under your bust, flat against your ribcage, literally just under your bra band and thread the tape through the gold ring (photo on the left).

You then pull the tape back tightly and you will see your band size in the coloured zone at the gold ring - the fit tape should fit snugly - as most of the support comes from the underband, not the straps.

Step Two - Measure you Cup

​Flip the tape over and you will see the torso icon in the centre of the tape (photo on the right) - place this between your boobs and pull the tape across the fullest part of your largest boob, measure to the end of the fleshy part of your boob.

Then simply match your underband number from Step One to the cup size zone in Step Two to find your fitted bra size!

​Remember when we get our underwear right, then the rest of our outfit looks so much better - get the foundation right and the rest will follow! 

Nudea recommend measuring yourself at least every 6 months - the average woman will wear six different bra sizes in her lifetime.  We can vary throughout our monthly cycle too and the Nudea Fit Tape means you have a handy tool you can use at any time.

​With such pretty lingerie now available, I am loving the new trend - to show your bra!  It is no longer a style sin to wear a colour under a white top for example.  And how stunning is the Jade Green. from Nudea?  According to new research, a red bra won't show under a white t-shirt!  Skin has red undertones and that is why it doesn't show!

• The pretty ribbon detailing at the front centre (on some styles). 
• The extra hook and eye for a better fit and longer lasting wear (there are 4 instead of the usual 3). 
• The straps are all 'multi-way' so you can wear as a crossback, halterneck or overarm.
• ​And the strap adjusters face forward not back so Nudea bras are easier to adjust when they are on!

​All Nudea bras and briefs are crafted from recycled Italian lace to add to their sustainable credentials, the sheer fabric is based on an art deco design and they come in a contemporary range of stunning colours - black, nude, pink, navy blue and jade green.  They are pretty but not fussy, they mould to your shape but are not heavily padded, and they give good nipple coverage!

My recommended bra size using the Nudea Fit Tape

When I measured at home with the Nudea Fit Tape my size came out as 34C.  When I used the Virtual Fitting Room my size was 32D and my sister size is 34C.  As I had been measured fairly recently I knew that 32D was correct and I understood the sister size too - you can read more about your sister size here.  Nudea sent me the Lift Balcony Bra in Jade Green in a 32D and it was a perfect fit!

The measuring process was simple and Nudea were helpful and reassuring.  I knew that if I had any doubts I could then book a virtual fitting online but I didn't need to.

Nudea gifted me the Lift Balcony Bra and matching High Leg Briefs in Jade Green.  It is such a beautiful set.  Firstly they sent me the Fit Tape so I could measure and I loved the Self-Measuring Guide that comes with it.  It includes a section 'Want a bra style to suit your breast shape?' and it describes each breast shape - Teardrop, East West, Full Round and Bell and recommends the ideal Nudea bra for your shape. For my teardrop shape, they suggest The Lift Balcony Bra,  It has double mesh for added support and comfort and it is based on the balconette style so it gives me more lift and shape.  And I love the multi-way straps!​

Using the Nudea Online Fitting Room to check my bra size and understand my sister size and shape

With so many women not enjoying in-store bra fittings this is obviously a much needed service, I have never minded being measured but then I am fairly body confident, have small boobs and haven't deviated much in bra size over the years.  Apart from when I was pregnant and then breast feeding.  Wow I loved my bigger boobs then, it was such a novelty!
