Well not too bad actually!
The food in Turkey is very fresh, lots of good quality meat and fish with salads and vegetables. On the first day I had a supermarket delivery (not quite Ocado but a lovely helpful shop owner) of various fresh foods like eggs, melon, tuna, salad, porridge which enabled me to make healthy breakfasts and lunches for the days we were at the apartment all day. I made good choices in the restaurants and found it was quite easy to avoid the junk, even in the pizza restaurant I was able to have a moussaka with a side salad. We were served a delicious BBQ and a selection of salads the day we were on the boat. Another evening we went to a beautiful restaurant called ‘Cin Bal’ which is a BBQ restaurant, you choose your fresh meat and fish and sides and then a BBQ is placed at the end of your table and all the fresh foods and you cook it yourself! It was fun and beautiful to sit in their lovely gardens in the evening warmth. Yes they did bring chips to the table too and yes I did have some – well they were right in front of me! I had some treats– mainly rose wine and magnum ice creams! But overall my choices were good and healthy. I managed to fit in three HIIT sessions. The gym wasn’t great so I did one YouTube video in the apartment, one jog/walk on the road at the back of the apartment and one gym session on the bike/rower/step-ups. I think the biggest challenge was the two travel days, I wish I’d take more pre-prepared food with me. I didn’t feel like I missed out though; it felt good to not come back from a holiday feeling fatter than when I went. Big thanks to Joe Wicks, The Body Coach and the SSS Plan. It is hard work but it has made such a massive difference to my mind-set around food and exercise, a holiday is the ultimate test but I wanted to eat healthy while I was away and mostly I did!
