Have you heard the saying "there's no such thing as bad weather, only bad clothing"? It evolved from a quote shared by Alfred Wainwright in his 1973 book Coast to Coast. And whilst I can completely agree with the sentiment, I am still honest about being a fair weather walker! I am not a fan of long, grey January, at least February is shorter, but I can't wait for spring to start appearing. I do agree that getting outside is one of the best things we can all do for our mental health, me included. I always feel better from breathing in the fresh air and enjoying space and nature around me. And if we are going to get outside more, let's make it colourful, stylish and practical! And Cotton Traders have got a fabulous collection which gives us everything we need for a stylish seasonal walk, and it is affordable! Cotton Traders want to remind us that going for walks really can raise our spirits and adding a pop of colour to our winter wardrobe creates a feeling of happiness. This is a gifted blog post. Cotton Traders All-Weather Jacket in Dark Rose is waterproof, has a cosy lining, a generous hood, is machine washable and I love the longer length to protect from wet weather keep your legs warm!

In recent weeks I have been away with two groups of fabulous women, my girlfriends and the new friends I met on the writers retreat and on both occasions the subject of the best underwear for us older women was discussed! Now obviously underwear still comes down to personal preference but it got me thinking about what lingerie really does suit our different body shapes, there are so many different styles and I know I have made mistakes. I have an extensive lingerie drawer but what makes me pick the same styles over and over again every day?!
What I love .... for me personally the best lingerie includes push-up bras, preferably a t-shirt bra, in a soft cotton with classic briefs like bikini panties. I favour 'little knickers' and I will explain why later on. I love a few lace details and have lots of different colours, yes I have white, black and navy but I also wear a lot of red underwear, pink and bright blues. And the most important thing for me, that my lingerie collection only contains matching sets whether that be for everyday wear or a special occasion, I will never wear anything but matching bra and knickers! And never a 5-pack! I prefer to choose individual styles! I am small, my petite body type does mean I am able to avoid many of the bra buying challenges that women with bigger busts struggle with. At a 32D I am not ever going to relate and would never claim to understand. Our body changes as we age, with hot flushes, sensitive breasts, loser skin and a bit more support needed, there is a good reason to invest in the best quality underwear we can afford. Quality means more comfort with better support and coverage. Get the shape right and it will pay dividends for your style! This is a gifted blog post. I am absolutely delighted to be working with Elizabeth Rose, a beautiful independent fashion boutique, with a High Street store in the pretty Kent town of Tenterden and also with a fabulous online shop. Elizabeth Rose stock some of my favourite brands including Aspiga, Gabor, Indi & Cold and Paige Jeans. I met co-owner Helen on Instagram back in 2019 when I entered a giveaway she was running, won a voucher and decided to visit in person as I often go back to Kent. I grew up nearby, but a pandemic delayed things a bit! More on that later, but the most important bit is that I am so excited to be running my biggest blog giveaway yet and giving my readers a chance to win a very generous amount to spend on their AW22 wardrobe! Honestly Helen has the best taste in fashion, completely understands her customers and offers style consultations if you need help finding a special outfit or just want to upgrade your everyday look. I've loved getting to know Helen and see the Elizabeth Rose Instagram blossoming, all their posts are relatable, genuine and helpful, nothing too fast moving or gimmicky and with some fabulous outfit ideas, do follow them! The giveaway is running from Thursday 6th October until Friday 4th November 2022 and vouchers can be spent online or in-store. For giveaway rules please scroll to end of post. To find out more about Elizabeth Rose and the fabulous brands you could spend your gift vouchers on if you are the lucky winner, keep reading ...
This is a gifted blog post. How I am embracing body confidence in my 50s with a boudoir photoshoot by Alexandra at FYEO8/8/2022 As we get older we care less about what others think and embrace a more positive attitude to ourselves, our body, our needs, dreams and desires. In short we get a bit more selfish. Apparently between the ages of 34 and 44 we have the lowest body confidence but after the age of 55, we have the highest body confidence! And I can totally relate, I think we learn to accept what we cannot change and relax into who we are. Not just body confidence but overall confidence in ourselves increases especially once we have navigated the hormone fluctuations of menopause. When I was 48 I had my first boudoir photoshoot with Alexandra at For Your Eyes Only - FYEO is a boudoir photography studio near Marlow and I have recently had my second boudoir photoshoot at 55, And I loved them both! But I felt even more confident for this recent shoot. I was there to help Alexandra celebrate her 20th anniversary as a successful and well-respected boudoir photographer, we took some absolutely stunning and yes very hot and sexy photos and did a short video about my experience. And I am sharing on my blog how I got on, what was involved, how I felt about it and to encourage other women in their 50s to step out of their comfort zone, embrace body confidence, and get an over 50 boudoir photoshoot! For YOU but also for your partner, your husband .... or anyone else special in your life! My birthday is actually in December so don't be fooled by the 55 balloons but as I was celebrating my 55th year they seemed like a fun prop for my shoot!
