A short update this month I think, it's been a funny month and now finished off with the start of Lockdown V2. I hate all these 2020 words ... lockdown, bubble, social distancing, masks, self-isolating, covidiot ... I am beginning to rebel and refuse to use them. I don't have a bubble. I have a family and I want to see them. When I looked back at my September #beingfiftyandfab post I was still wearing late summer clothes. Now I have moved to early winter! The clocks have changed and the heating is on! I am not a fan of the colder weather and heavy clothes, I do love my boots and scarves but mostly I hate being so trussed up in layers. I'd much rather be in a light summer dress or a bikini! There is so much more to think about with winter dressing. If you are on Instagram do join in with #beingfiftyandfab and tag me `@fifty_andfab so I can find you, get to know you and share a few posts! This outfit is a good example. A denim dress I bought last year in Marks & Spencer but hadn't worn. I didn't know what coat to wear with it. I felt that denim needs something easy over it or it feels too restrictive and uncomfortable. But on Saturday we were going for lunch, it was raining and as we could park outside and it wasn't cold, I didn't really need to think too much about what to wear with it. So I was able to grab my faux fur gilet and it was just enough and finished the outfit off well too. Obviously if it had been cold or I was actually walking a distance it wouldn't have worked. Really pleased I found a new outfit combination already in my wardrobe. We had lunch at a lovely pub overlooking the River Thames and although it was a rainy, grey day the sun did make an appearance later. If you are feeling the effects of stress and poor sleep then don't miss my last blog post and the fabulous Instagram giveaway from B-Line Beauty. To be in with a chance of winning a Hug-in-a-Box then go to their Instagram and follow the instructions - giveaway closes on Friday 13th November 2020. I featured this outfit on my Instagram last week. the jacket is the Short Borg Jacket from Next. My daughter came home from uni with a lovely faux fur jacket from ASOS and I wanted one too! Really pleased with this one and only £55 (tip - size down, I am wearing an 8). My trainers were gifted to me from Hotter Shoes and they have their new Cushion+ technology in them which makes them even more comfy! They are really lightweight, have a leather lining and a padded collar to support your ankle. I love the white with the pop of gold and animal print. They also come in navy or black and currently discounted. They are their Switch deck shoe design and you can find them here. I am wearing them with the boyfriend jeans with stretch from Marks & Spencer. I had a few days in Devon at the beginning of October. The weather forecast was rubbish, but it turned out so much better. I was staying with my niece who is expecting her first baby in early December so it was an opportunity for me to spend some time with her before the birth. Unfortunately I got another bad migraine while I was there but as we had only planned to be lazy, not go far, walking and relaxing it didn't matter too much. I also met up with my dad who was in Torquay and had lunch with him and my father-in-law in Brixham! The photos above were taken at Coleton Fishacre, possibly one of my favourite National Trust houses and gardens. I've been several times before and this visit we were just as lucky with the weather, we did less walking, it is very steep and at 36 weeks pregnant plus me recovering from a migraine, it was more of a bimble than a hike! Lunch in Brixham, me in the middle with my father-in-law, I really do love Brixham, so glad I was able to fit in a few days at the seaside before lockdown! Below, Dusty enjoying the view on the estuary near Totnes. I couldn't resist sharing a few photos of my father-in-laws garden, his wife is so talented with her gardening and artistic flair. Her new 'she shed' and seaside theme look amazing, it is one of those gardens that you could spend hours exploring all the little features, it is only tiny but really pretty and fun. The little door in the photo below middle is a fairy door ... I am sure her grandchildren must love visiting! A bit of an eclectic post this month! I am going to start working on my Christmas gift suggestions soon, I am looking at 'decluttered gifting' again this year. I am inspired by Jo from Less is More (a decluttering and organising service), Christmas will look a bit different this year and having spent large amounts of time decluttering 'stuff' let's not put it all back again!
