My gorgeous friends gave me a 'voucher' for my 50th birthday back in December for afternoon tea and the theatre, all of us having a day out. Little did I know the weather would be so perfect for it, what a bonus! Now this day out did take some organising! We all lead busy lives with children, jobs, teenagers and husbands. But we got there and what a fabulous day it was. First worry was what to wear. Sunny and warm during the day with a chance of the temperature really dipping in the evening. I still haven't sorted my wardrobe out for summer, I have been too busy supervising the decorating, so I was a bit limited in my choices but I opted for my favourite spring colour 'du jour' yes a blush lightweight jumper with 3/4 sleeves from Monsoon and my faithful 7 for all Mankind Jeans that can easily be turned over with flat pumps. I then decided on my Uniqlo ultra lightweight jacket that could be rolled up and stored away in my bag in case I needed it. As it turned out, I didn't need it as when we came out of the theatre it was still mild but as it weighs nothing and squashes down really small I didn't mind having it with me. I have managed to get my summer handbag out though, usually I carry a cross body bag into London but as I wanted to take my jacket I decided to take my bigger bag - and it matches so well! Monsoon boat neck jumper in blush Ultra lightweight down jacket from Uniqlo Marks & Spencer Scarf Mint Velvet trainers Michael Kors Handbag 7 for all Mankind B-air denim We headed to Covent Garden, unfortunately it is not possible to book a restaurant if you want to sit outside on the terrace but a friend had recommended Tuttons to us and we got there in good time and although we had to wait a while we did get a great table and it was very pleasant watching the world go by and listening to the entertainers nearby. Of course cocktails and prosecco were involved! We had a long lazy lunch but managed to fit in a little browse in the shops. Had fun in Kurt Geiger - loving the pom poms, I may need to go back! And we had to try on shoes in Russell & Bromley - again some lovely styles to consider when I have worked out what I need! Next we jumped on the tube and headed over to Victoria for the Afternoon Tea Bus. Now it is quite a long walk from the tube to the coach station so if you decide to do the same, make sure you allow extra time (or get in a taxi)! The Afternoon Tea Bus is run by B-Bakery who have a shop at Covent Garden and offer all sorts of innovative London afternoon tea experiences. We did L'Afternoon Tea on the vintage routemaster bus. It was so beautifully presented - absolute great fun for a group of girls. Then it was a quick dash to The Strand for Kinky Boots at the theatre. More prosecco of course and a queue for the toilets. But what an fabulous show! It deserves all the awards, true West End glamour and polished performance. Brilliant costumes, amazing vocals and lots of fun.
We really did have a great day. Pretty worn out on Sunday but I was lucky to be invited to a BBQ at my sister-in-laws so no cooking. Hasn't the weather been great, I really must get my summer clothes out and do some planning for what else I need. Love Michelle xx

I feel the same too; time to go shopping. I had nothing to wear in the weekend heat as I was ruthless last year and threw out most of my old clothes. It would be great if you could do a post about how you plan and choose your styles and where you shop.
