Collaborative Post | birthdays are a milestone that’s well worth celebrating, and after a few difficult years with many of us stuck indoors and unable to celebrate how we’d like, you could use this opportunity to spend some much-needed quality time with friends and loved ones. Here are some ideas for a 60th birthday celebration to remember. Family BBQIf you’re celebrating your birthday during the summer months, a barbecue is an excellent way to mark the occasion. Spending time with the family seems more important than ever after the pandemic, so treat your loved one to family time, presents and a personalised 60th birthday card. A family barbecue can be as low-key or over-the-top as you like! You could keep it small with just close friends and family, some delicious food and plenty of drinks to toast to the birthday boy or girl. Or you can go all-out with garden décor, a beer barrow or bar cart, string lights and a fire pit for toasting smores. You could even pick a party theme and ask your guests to come in fancy dress. Popular BBQ party themes include tropical or beach parties, a campsite theme or you could throw it back to an earlier decade and have a 60s or 70s theme. A Surprise PartySurprise parties are a great way to show someone how much you care about their birthday and that you want to make it special for them, but make sure they’re the kind of person who will appreciate it as not everyone likes to be surprised! Speak to other people who know them well so you can put together the plans in secret and be sure to invite all of your loved one’s friends and family. You could host a surprise party at their home but this will require some careful planning as they’ll need to be safely out of the way for the preparations and arrival of the guests. Designate a friend or family member to take them out somewhere as a ruse, giving you time to pop up the decorations and get everyone safely stashed away inside ready for their arrival. Alternatively, book a table or room at a restaurant or another events venue, like a hotel or function room. Decorate the party space with banners and balloons. You could even do a photo wall, displaying all those special snaps of the birthday boy or girl throughout the years. Book a Mini Break For a milestone birthday, like a 60th, you may want to have a big celebration over a few days, in which case a mini break away is ideal. If they love the outdoors, then why not head to a beautiful part of the country such as the Lake District? You can spend your days exploring the local area and rambling through the countryside before heading back to your B&B or Airbnb and relaxing in front of the fire with a glass of wine. Or if a city break is more their thing, then why not plan a weekend in London instead? Book a luxury hotel room and tickets to see their favourite musical and squeeze in a bit of sightseeing to make their 60th birthday truly memorable.
