The role of hair oils in modern hair care rituals

14/12/2025

Collaborative Post || Modern hair care isn't just about shampoo and maybe a weekly mask. It's a true ritual, incorporating several basic products, following a comprehensive approach, and using high-quality products from premium brands, created using technology and scientific approaches. One such product is hair oil – the finishing touch to a beauty routine that gently completes care, seals the results, and ensures a truly luxurious hairstyle.

Why do you need hair oil?

Modern oils aren't just about nutrition; they're created through the painstaking work of scientists and biotechnologists who use the best natural and synthetic ingredients to create a truly wow-inspiring effect and provide comprehensive hair care. Such a product can perform the following functions:

  1. Be a hair protection. A high-quality oil doesn't weigh down your hair, doesn't strip it of volume, and doesn't make it greasy. Instead, it creates a thin, invisible film that envelops each strand, retains moisture, reduces porosity, minimizes split ends and breakage, and prevents dryness. This oil is a must-have for women who regularly style, color, or are often exposed to dry air.
  2. Provide natural shine and smoothness. Want hair like in commercials or that of Hollywood stars? Then don't forget about oil: it smooths the cuticle, thus eliminating frizz, makes hair elastic, flexible, and smooth, and adds a luxurious shine, as if you just stepped out of a salon after expensive treatments.
  3. Nourish and restore. Hair oils contain lipids, vitamins, and fatty acids, which make strands more elastic, reduce the risk of breakage, restore lipid balance, and improve overall hair texture.
  4. Be a heat & sun hair protection. Modern oils developed by premium brands maintain a stable formula even under high temperatures. They contain antioxidants and next-generation silicone complexes, reliably protecting hair from UV rays, overheating, oxidative stress, dirty, dry air, and other negative factors.

In other words, oil is a kind of superhero for your hair, capable of protecting it from the outside world and supporting it from within thanks to intelligent formulas and the use of modern manufacturing technologies.

What types of hair oils are there?

We've already discussed their important role, but did you know that hair oils differ depending on their purpose and application? Let's briefly describe the main types and provide a few examples of such products:

  • Pre-wash oil is an oil used before shampooing, meaning it's applied directly to the scalp before shampooing. Its main purpose is to prevent shampoo from drying out the hair, relieve irritation, moisturize the scalp, and make hair softer. A good example of such a product is the pre-shampoo & nourishing treatment scalp oil by Shu Uemura Essence Absolue. It contains red Japanese camellia oil, argan, jojoba, sweet orange, and avocado oils, which not only provide visible results and improve hair texture but also smell divine.
  • Protective pre-styling oil. This oil is used before blow-drying, straightening, curling, and also before going outside, especially in summer, as it also protects against UV rays. Among the premium products in this category, Shu Uemura's nourishing protective hair oil stands out. Its distinctive feature is its extremely lightweight formula, which allows for quick absorption without weighing hair down or robbing it of volume. It effectively controls frizz, prevents breakage, retains moisture, protects against UV rays and temperatures up to 225°C, and ensures smoothness, softness, and shine.
  • Nourishing and restorative. This is a leave-in finishing treatment designed to make hair shiny, soft, and smooth. These products nourish hair from the inside, infuse it with essential nutrients, smooth it, and add shine without leaving a greasy feeling. A prime example is Nourishing Hair Oil by Oribe Gold Lust. It's based on Oribe Signature's proprietary complex of botanical extracts, argan, camellia, and jasmine oils, bamboo extract, and UV filters, which work together to prevent photoaging and keratin loss, effectively protect from sun damage, and soften and strengthen hair.
  • Multifunctional. Don't like multiple bottles? Want a single product that retains moisture, nourishes, and protects? Such oils are also available, such as Alchemical Golden Hair Oil by Lunesi. It's enriched with plant-based squalane, jojoba, argan, and marula oils, as well as tocopheryl acetate, providing a comprehensive effect. The oil deeply moisturizes and helps retain moisture for a long time, strengthens and restores, provides protection from high temperatures, has an antioxidant effect, and makes hair manageable, smooth, and shiny without excess oiliness.

Each of the listed products is the result of painstaking work, testing, and a variety of formulas and the use of modern technologies aimed at extracting maximum benefit from the ingredients. Choose your luxury hair oil and enjoy salon-quality results at home!
