Collaborative Post | Trends come and go. Yet underwear isn’t typically an immediate thought when envisioning a stylistic rebirth. For too long, it has played a hidden role — at best, invisible glue that holds an outfit together. Fortunately, you see things differently. The truth is that underwear shapes your silhouette and seamlessly sophisticates outfits. Start with high-quality bras, a sprinkle of confidence, and stylistic intention. Here’s how to incorporate underwear into your style; you’ll be surprised at the results. Photo by Ivana Batalović on Unsplash 1. The foundation: achieving a flawless silhouetteEveryone with breasts has experienced the nightmare of an ill-fitting bra. The lack of comfort, unsightly bulges, and bulky straps; it’s just a recipe for a stylistic failure. By investing in the right foundations, it becomes much easier to achieve that smooth and flattering silhouette. It’s also important to know your bra types. For scoop necklines, a push-up or balconette bra is perfect for achieving that extra “lift.” For higher necklines, a seamless or T-shirt bra achieves an invisible fit and avoids harsh outlines. 2. Intentional peeks: making a subtle style statementIntentional peeks of underwear are a subtle statement that’s been made on high-flying runways and high-calibre carpets. In 2023, the visible bra trend experienced a resurgence, and in 2024, celebrities pioneered another notable look: visible pants. Meet the so-called “underwear as outerwear” trend. There is a stubborn stereotype that flashing underwear is raunchy or classless. Yet, when subtly incorporated utilising stylistic strategies like layering, it can be the opposite. A slipped corner of lace bralette or an ornate bra strap can add allure — and even sophistication. The trick is to style underwear as a deliberate accessory. 3. Bralettes as outerwear: casual chicNot all underwear is meant to be hidden; bralettes have been defining casual chic for a hot minute. These supportive types of bras are long enough to function as a crop top, combining function with style. If you’re struggling for ideas, a longline lace bralette with high-waisted trousers is a confident look, while a skirt adds a feminine floatiness. Pair it with a blazer for a smarter aesthetic, or simply accessorise with jewellery. There’s a lot of room for adaptation here. 4. The power of contrast and colourDon’t underestimate the power of contrast. Nude and black bras have long been revered as solid choices when your goal is invisibility. But when you’re embracing style? Consider embracing a contrast in colour.
Imagine the vibrancy of a red bra underneath a white shirt, or a jewel-studded strap beneath a black dress. Lean into that visual intrigue and don’t shy away from those opportunities to display personality. Underwear isn’t just a requirement for functionality. Embrace it as the stylistic staple it deserves to be, and you’ll be wowed by your results. Disclaimer: this is a collaborative post. Comments are closed.
