Can you get dental implants in your 50s and 60s?

29/9/2026

Collaborative Post | Yes, you can have dental implants in your 50s or 60s if your mouth and general health make you suitable for treatment. Your age on its own is not what decides whether an implant can be placed. Your dentist will be more interested in the health of your gums, the amount of bone in your jaw, your medical history and factors such as smoking.

That makes an individual assessment much more useful than trying to judge your chances from your age. If you have been living with a gap or removable denture, the first step is finding out what is happening below the gum as well as looking at the teeth you can see.

What matters more than your age

An implant is placed in the jawbone and acts as an artificial tooth root. It can then support a crown, bridge or denture. For that reason, your dentist needs to know whether there is enough healthy bone to support it and whether your mouth is healthy enough for treatment.

Your gums matter too. A history of gum disease, poor oral hygiene and smoking can increase the risk of problems around an implant. Poorly controlled diabetes and certain medicines can also affect treatment planning, which is why your dentist will ask about your health and any medication you take.

If you are wondering whether dental implants could work for you, an assessment with this dentist can help establish whether implants are suitable for your mouth and whether any treatment may be needed first. An examination and appropriate imaging can give the dental team much more useful information than your age alone.

What happens during an implant assessment

Your dentist will examine your teeth and gums and ask about your dental and medical history. X-rays are commonly used during implant planning, and a three-dimensional CBCT scan may be needed to show how much bone is available and where nearby structures such as nerves and sinuses are positioned.

This is also the time to mention anything that could affect treatment. That includes medication, previous gum problems, smoking and medical conditions you are being treated for.

The assessment may show that an implant is a reasonable option, or that another problem needs treating first. Either way, you will have an answer based on your own mouth rather than your age.

Does having a tooth missing for years matter?

It can. After a tooth is lost, the jawbone in that area can change over time. If there is not enough bone to support an implant, bone grafting may be considered to increase the amount available.

Needing a graft does not mean that an implant is automatically ruled out, but it can make treatment longer and more involved. If you need one, the bone graft may need several months to heal before implant treatment can continue.

Not everyone needs this additional procedure. The amount and position of the available bone need to be assessed before your dentist can tell you what applies to you.

What does implant treatment involve?

Treatment usually starts with planning and any dental work needed to prepare your mouth. The implant itself is then placed into the jaw under local anaesthetic. There is then a healing period before the replacement tooth is fitted. This healing period after implant placement is often at least three months, although your own treatment timetable will depend on what your mouth needs.

That timetable is one reason to ask about the whole process at the assessment rather than concentrating only on the day the implant is placed. How many appointments might you need? Is any treatment required first? What will you use in the gap while the implant heals? The answers will depend on your mouth and the type of restoration being planned.

When might another option suit you better?

Implants are not suitable for everyone, whatever their age. Active gum disease, poor oral hygiene, insufficient bone, smoking or aspects of your general health may affect whether treatment is recommended or whether something needs to be addressed first.

You may also decide that you do not want implant surgery or the treatment time involved. Depending on which teeth are missing and the condition of the rest of your mouth, alternatives can include a bridge or removable denture. Implants themselves can also be used to support some dentures.

There is no reason to treat an implant as the only acceptable outcome. The better question is which way of replacing your missing tooth or teeth fits your oral health, expectations and willingness to undergo treatment.

Caring for an implant after treatment

Finishing treatment does not mean the implant can be forgotten. Implants and the gums around them need regular cleaning, and long-term dental reviews remain part of looking after them.

Inflammation can develop around implants, and bone loss around the implant can occur if problems progress. Daily brushing and cleaning between the teeth still matter because the gums and bone around an implant need to stay healthy.

If you find brushing or cleaning between your teeth harder than you used to, tell your dental team. They can show you cleaning methods and products that are easier to manage around your particular restoration.

Make the decision from an assessment, not your age

Being in your 50s or 60s does not by itself tell you whether you can have an implant. The condition of your gums and jawbone, your general health, your dental history and how well you can maintain the area all give your dentist more useful information.

If you are considering replacing a missing tooth, an implant assessment can show whether treatment may be suitable and whether anything needs to be addressed first. You can then discuss an implant alongside the other ways of replacing the tooth and decide which option feels right for you.

How to choose the right UNice lace front wigs for a natural-looking style

28/9/2026

Collaborative Post | Changing the hairstyle can be an adventurous experience for some people, though finding the right type of hairstyle may not be easy since the hair can change over time and become drier and less manageable than before. The wig will give you the freedom to experiment with different hairstyles without having to dye or cut your hair.

The essential thing about the wigs is to select the one that feels natural, comfortable, and appropriate to wear for everyday activities.

What makes UNice lace front wigs look natural?

The UNice lace front wigs have lace fronts that result in a softer hairline appearance. This is important because the hair line is the first thing that most people will see when they look at a wig.

Having a natural hairline allows you to have a variety of hairstyle options since you can style your hair back, on the sides or even do a middle part.

Start with the hairline
Look closely at the top edge of the wig. It is more realistic for the hairline to be soft and blended rather than sharp and pronounced. The parting can be altered a little to allow for better integration with your skin and face shape.
Color, length, and density
The lace is not everything. The color, length and density of hair also play a role in the realism of the wig.

If you do not wish for a radical difference from what you have, go for something similar to your own hair color. Otherwise, a warmer, slightly brighter hue will give you an entire new look. The wig density also plays an important role in this.

How to choose UNice lace front wigs for your lifestyle

There is no universal style that will suit everybody. The shape of your face, personal preferences, and your daily routine can influence your decision.

Consider everyday hairstyles
Think about your daily hairstyle and decide what kind of style is more appropriate for you. Do you want a style which will take you minutes to do or would you like something changeable according to the occasion.

The medium-length hair is very convenient to maintain and it will look nice during any occasion. Waves and soft layers will bring dynamics and volume to your hairstyle. A long hairstyle will look great for any special occasion.

Comfort should come first

If you are going to wear a wig for several hours, a comfortable fitting of a cap becomes very important. It should be light and easy to wear and adjust. Try it at home first.

Why human hair is worth considering

The kind of hair is as important as the style itself. Wigs made from human hair often appear natural and move just like natural hair would. In addition, they provide greater styling versatility, allowing one to put curls or a sleek look on the wig as required by the occasion.

For most women, this makes wearing a wig an integral part of their beauty regime.

Human bob wigs for a classic look

In case you need a simpler one, then human hair bob wigs would be great. There are reasons why bob wigs are called classic. They are chic and stylish as well as comfortable to wear and match almost all face types.

Go for a sleek look to get that professional and chic style during the day or try the wave to give your look a more relaxed vibe. In addition, human hair bob wigs are usually lighter compared to other longer wigs.

A chin-length or a shoulder-length?

Length makes a difference to the entire hairstyle, and a chin-length bob will look very defined compared to a shoulder-length bob which will be soft and easy to pin behind the ear. Experiment with these two lengths to see what suits you best.

Ways to style a bob in your own unique style
There are many advantages in owning a bob, especially the way you can change its look according to your moods. If you decide on a side parting, it will make you look even more polished than before.

Middle parting will give a fresh look. You can choose to pin just one side of your hair behind your ear for an effortless look.

Small details that make a wig look like your own

All it takes are a few easy tricks after selecting your wig:

  • Choose a shade that matches your skin tone.
  • Set the part and forehead to achieve a natural look.
  • Don't style too much. Sometimes, less is more!

Remember that if this is your first time wearing a wig, give yourself some time to get used to it. Try out your new look at home before going out!

Keeping your wig looking its best

Proper care increases the life of the wig. Be gentle when brushing the wig starting from the bottom and working upwards if it is tangled.

Keep it in a place that is clean and dry when not in use, and be gentle when it comes to heat and styling products. Human hair still requires proper care although it can be treated like regular hair.

Final thoughts

Choosing the right wig does not need to be complicated. Think about your routine, the styles you enjoy and how much time you want to spend on your hair.

UNICE lace front wigs are a great choice if you want a natural-looking hairline and the freedom to explore new looks. If you prefer something shorter, human hair bob wigs offer a classic style that is easy to love.

Above all, choose a wig that makes you feel comfortable and confident.

Four must-see places for winter sun holidays

23/9/2026

Collaborative Post | The summer is, sadly, over. The days are drawing close again, and the nights are drawing colder. Gone is the threat of a humid day wafting yourself cool in the back garden, and the promise of a roasting summer day spent somewhere coastal. Or is it? Just because it gets cold here in the bonny British Isles doesn’t mean you have to swear off the warmth of the sun until next March.

Indeed, it’s possible to get a healthy dose of winter sun as part of an off-season getaway. While Europe is entering winter, not all the Northern Hemisphere is intolerably cold for the duration of it. Indeed, there are several standout destinations that are picture-perfect for a winter sun holiday, some of which we’ll be exploring in this very guide.

Canary Islands

First of all, for year-round sunshine and diverse landscapes, you needn’t look further than the Canary Islands. These are a popular summer holiday destination for Brits already, and eminently easy to get to as a result; an open secret, though, is how clement the weather remains here even during the winter. If you’re after winter sun holidays that cater to the whole family, you couldn’t do much better than the Canary Islands for a resort-style sun-and-sea experience out of the usual season.

Madeira

In keeping with the island theme, and if you’re more inclined to travel a little farther afield for a decent does of natural beauty, you might consider Madeira, the Portuguese archipelago off the coast of Africa. This is an island that truly sees the sun all year round, and which benefits greatly from it – particularly when it comes to natural landscapes. This volcanic island is rich in greenery, and mountainous too; the cliffs are must-see, as are the views you can take in from them.

The Algarve

Now, to the Iberian Peninsula, more specifically to Portugal, where a true coastal gem awaits. This is the Algarve, Portugal’s southern shore and home to Faro and Albufeira. It’s the mildest of winter climates, and one of the most inspiring coastal destinations you can visit. As far as winter sun holidays go, there are few better candidates than this incredible region, rich in cuisine and culture alike. The wine is a particular highlight!

Morocco

Finally, we come to the place where Europe and Africa almost touch: Morocco. This is a truly exotic winter-sun escape, being a true melting-pot of a country that contains multitudes and stays warm all the while. Morocco is perhaps most often visited by way of Marrakech, whose markets are globally recognised and never boring. The Western Sahara is a bucket-list place to visit, too, and much safer to visit in the winter.
