Groove pillow review | how this memory foam pillow helped my neck pain and my pins and needles26/1/2026 We are all guilty of spending too much time hunched over phones or laptops and I know I suffer with more pain and stiffness in my neck and shoulders than I would like. But I've also experienced pins and needles in my arms and hands at night. I know this is linked to carpal tunnel syndrome (and possibly hormonal). Waking up at night with numb arms and needing to shake my hands is not great for my sleep quality! I did a lot of research, and I had carpal tunnel surgery too, but only on one wrist and the problem still persisted. So I decided to invest in a better pillow, I felt that my sleep position was making it worse. Last year I purchased the Groove Adjustable Memory Foam Pillow 2.0 and I have used it consistently since. Then more recently Groove Pillows got in touch to ask if I'd like to review one of their memory foam pillows. well I already had one, so I was able to accept and I am happy to share a very honest and genuine review following around a year of sleeping on the Groove pillow. Poor neck support and awkward sleep positions can contribute to neck pain, stiffness, headaches and disrupted sleep, all of which can affect how we feel during the day. For me, the biggest issue wasn’t just neck discomfort, but waking with pins and needles in my arms and hands. I’m a side sleeper, and I realised that my old pillow wasn’t offering enough height or structure, meaning my neck and shoulders weren’t properly supported and pressure was building through the night. I had carpal tunnel decompression surgery last March on my right wrist but the pins and needles continued. I needed to give my wrist time to heal but I was so fed up of not sleeping comfortably, My experience with the Groove Adjustable Memory Foam Pillow 2.0What immediately stood out about the Groove pillow is its shape and adjustability. Unlike a standard pillow that flattens over time, this one is designed to cradle your head and support your neck in a more neutral position. I found that it:
This has made a noticeable difference to the pins and needles I was experiencing. By keeping my upper body better supported and reducing compression through my shoulders, I’ve found I wake far less, previously I needed to move or shake out my hands. While it’s not a medical treatment for carpal tunnel syndrome, it has absolutely helped reduce discomfort for me overnight. Neck support, comfort and sleep qualityThe contoured design includes a gentle central dip for the head, with raised areas that support the neck and shoulders. The memory foam moulds gradually rather than feeling hard or rigid, which I personally prefer. I also like that this version is adjustable, allowing you to remove layers to tailor the height. That’s particularly helpful if, like me, you’re fussy about pillow thickness or tend to alternate between side and back sleeping. The pillow comes vacuum packed and with full instructions on how to select the best adjustment for your personal needs. Over time, I’ve noticed less morning neck stiffness, and fewer night-time waking due to pins and needles, I feel more supported and comfortable. The cooling tencel pillowcaseMy existing silk pillowcase was a bit large for my new Groove PIllow so I purchased the Groove Classic Silk and Cotton Pillowcase last year, it fits the Groove Pillow perfectly, the silk top is good for my skin and hair and the cotton base means it doesn't slip. Groove also sent me their Cooling Tencel Pillowcase to try and it’s a lovely addition especially if you tend to get warm at night. It feels smooth and breathable, and I’ve found it helps regulate my temperature. For anyone navigating menopausal night sweats or temperature changes in midlife, this is a good upgrade! Why you should try a Groove Pillow!Based on my experience, I think this pillow is worth the investment if you:
Finding the right pillow is of course very personal and can often mean a few expensive mistakes before you find the right one. Groove offer a 100-night trial, so if you invest in a new pillow and it doesn't work for you, they will give you a full refund.
The Groove Pillow isn't a soft and squishy pillow and I do keep my conventional pillows on top for the perfect bed styling, but I discard at bedtime. I do believe the Groove Pillow has given me a positive improvement with better neck support, less pressure on my arms, and overall better comfort and sleep position. I am now sleeping well and not being woken up with pins and needles. When I get into bed at night, it feels comfortable and reassuring, it supports my often achy neck and I can immediately feel the stiffness is relieved.
