The 6 benefits of a silk pillowcase for hair, skin and sleep | why you won't regret buying a silk pillowcase!

17/4/2024

We spend a lot of time asleep, approximately a third of our lives in fact!  So let's make it the best, most comfortable sleep possible.  I am always a bit wary of the enthusiastic claims that one product can change your life and make you look ten years younger, there is certainly a lot of hype about the hair and skin benefits of sleeping on a silk pillowcase, but do they live up to that hype?  I love my silk pillowcases and have been using them for years ... read on to find out why they are worthwhile investment (and get 10% off at the new Hydralun Silk Pillowcase from Bed Lab)!

The 5 benefits of using a face serum every day

12/9/2023

Collaborative Post | In this post I am discussing the benefits of using a good quality face serum as part of your skin care routine as well as reviewing the Dēpology Peptide Complex 10% Serum formulated with Argireline™ peptide.

A face serum is a lightweight liquid that is easily absorbed into the skin.  The best face serum is designed to target different skin issues and promote skin health, including fine lines and wrinkles, dehydrated skin and uneven skin tone.  Serums contain a higher concentration of active ingredients and you should choose one that will address your unique skincare concerns.

Facial serums come in various forms, either gel, oil, lotion or a water-like formula but they are always a thinner consistency and absorb easily which means they layer onto the skin really well.

Your skincare routine should include applying your serum to the entire face after cleansing but before your face cream / moisturiser, day and night.  With regular use your dull skin will be transformed and you will soon feel the benefits of face serum.

How to blow dry your hair fast without damage!  Is the Zuvi Halo Hair Dryer the 'Future of Haircare'?

8/6/2023

Finally the hair dryer is getting a makeover and we are seeing a burst of new designs and innovative technology coming to the market.  And they not only blow dry our hair faster but are also able to protect and care for our hair!  Haircare is moving forward and at home blow drying is getting easier.

My hair is naturally kinky, not quite straight hair, not quite curly hair either and for most of my adult years I kept it short and cropped because it was easier to style.  But when my daughter was born in 2000, suddenly I wanted longer, softer, prettier, girly hair!  I started growing it but I remember the inbetween phase being a bit of a nightmare to manage.  I persevered and was delighted when I could finally afford the original GHD hair straightener!  It was a revelation and made keeping my hair long possible and styling easier.  But of course over use of straighteners in particular will cause heat damage and dry hair and I have certainly had hair breakage and thinner sections.  Although HRT has improved the condition of my hair, I still need to be mindful of not over using hot styling tools.  My hair can get quite frizzy on a damp, rainy day, and frizzy hair is no fun, those pesky curls reappear and head in ridiculous directions leaving me feeling very self-conscious.

I tend to wash my hair every day, I don't get on very well with dry shampoo, and air drying it naturally isn't an option, I look like the Mad Professor, so I want to keep my morning routine and blow-drying time to a minimum, but maximise healthy hair!

I've owned both th GHD hair dryer and more recently the Dyson hair dryer which I love, so could it get any better?  Well I was recently sent the Zuvi Halo Hair Dryer to try out and review!  And the good news is that it does get better, the Zuvi Halo provides faster drying, shinier and healthier hair.

Read on to find out how I got on using the Zuvi Halo and my top tips for fast drying and minimal damage ...

EMFace | the new non surgical facelift - revealing my results and my thoughts!

18/5/2023

EMFace is the revolutionary new non surgical facelift that is causing big excitement in beauty aesthetics, it promises to lift and sculpt facial muscles and reduce wrinkles with no down time and completely needle free!  And I got to try it out!

You may have seen my first blog post about EMFace, if not pop over for a read How to get the best results from EMFace | the revolutionary new facial contouring treatment at S-Thetics in Beaconsfield.

I was super excited to be one of the first patients in the UK to try EMFace. I have never been a fan of injectables or anything too invasive (although I did try Profhilo a few years ago) but generally I prefer to let nature take its course, I want to look like me!  I do feel a bit horrified at the number of younger women choosing to have fillers.  Although the Government has introduced a crackdown on unregulated treatments, I still think this is something that should be carried out by a properly qualified medical doctor and that is one of the reasons I love the S-Thetics Clinic in Beaconsfield.

S-Thetics Clinic, Beaconsfield was founded by surgeon and cosmetic doctor Miss Sherina Balaratnam. Miss Balaratnam has over 23 years medical experience, she trained as a plastic surgeon for 6 years and is passionate about offering the most advanced skincare products and facial treatments as well as non-surgical skin rejuvenation and body contouring using the latest medical grade technology there is.

So read on to find out more ... including what it feels like when you have an EMFace treatment, how long it takes and is it worth it?
