The search had begun already, I needed a new waterproof jacket, but I needed it to be warm, preferably lightweight and I'd decided a little bit of colour wouldn't go amiss! I also have to be careful that the style doesn't drown me, so many coats can be too long. When Lighthouse Clothing got in touch, I was immediately impressed by their colourful styles, combining practicality and fashion. Every Lighthouse design comes with the message 'Live simple, live happy' and they design everything in Belfast, Northern Ireland, where they certainly know all about rainy days! I chose two gorgeous styles from Lighthouse Clothing to share on my blog - let me know what you think!? This is a gifted blog post. Bold and chic - the red coat is still a style stapleIt had to be red ... pops of red are still very much on trend for winter 2024 and although we are seeing burgundy all over Instagram, for me it will always be red. There is nothing quite like the confidence boosting power of adding red, it's timeless and bold and will cheer up even the greyest autumn and winter days. The Laurel Coat in Red (it comes in other colours too) from Lighthouse is warm but lightweight so it is easy to go from car to walk, it is a mid-length style but doesn't drown my petite frame (I'm 5'2") it has a water repellant outer (rather than waterproof) so it won't cope with a deluge but that's okay, I tend to avoid going out in heavy rain anyway, this works for drizzly, unpredictable days. And because it is lightweight it is easy to pack for a weekend away or squash into a backpack if needed. And it has a hood! I used to love the Uniqlo lightweight down jackets but they stopped adding hoods and I think that was a bonkers decision. I want to have the option that if I am out and about and the heavens open I can pop my hood up and try to avoid a bad hair day. I also think the 3/4 length is far more practical for warmth and keeping dry. The Laurel Coat is warm, cosy and sustainable due to its 300g of recycled synthetic filling. I also think the Laurel Coat looks good dressed up a bit with smarter jeans and boots, I love the pop of colour it will add to a casual outfit and I've styled it here with my own stripe top but take a look at the long sleeve breton top from Lighthouse. I really love this coat, I'm very very impressed with the design details, the colour and the fit. I took it out for a spin to walk the dogs, take photos and enjoy a sunny autumn afternoon in my woods. My jumper is from Hobbs and my jeans are from Marks & Spencer. The parka is back and this one is a timeless style you'll loveParka's are back for winter 2024, the classic style is easy to wear, casual, loose-fitting and considered forever cool and I love this one from Lighthouse Clothing. The Isobel Coat is a waterproof but warm, parka style coat and I wanted a neutral colour that goes with everything so I can just pop it on over jeans, trousers or leggings and stay dry and warm. The Isobel Coat ticks all the boxes, it is highly waterproof, insulated and breathable and the faux fur trim adds to the cosy feel. It is ideal for my dog walks or running around town doing errands as it looks stylish too. It is a 3/4 length but again not too long on me. I chose the navy but it also comes in two other gorgeous colours. A perfect waterproof coat, I can see me wearing this one loads, it's a bit warmer than my previous waterproof jacket and is a better fit, I am wearing the size 10 in both styles. I love my Dubarry of Ireland full length leather boots for my dog walks, they are waterproof, comfortable, and although a huge investment when I bought them a number of years back, in terms of cost per wear they are serving me very well! The drawstring on the Isobel coat cinches the waist in to add shape and every Lighthouse coat comes with the 'Live simple, live happy' label next to the zip. Life lately ...After 11 days touring around Tuscany, it was a bit of a shock to come back to the autumn weather, in fact we arrived into Gatwick whilst the UK was experiencing heavy rain and storms! I was glad to get home but we really fell in love with Tuscany. I will get around to telling you more on a dedicated blog post and I will share our itinerary as well as it worked out so well. Tuscany has so much to offer, from the stunning landscapes, to the history, the cuisine and of course the art ... we spent a few days exploring Florence but also enjoyed the rolling hills, the vineyards, the olive groves and cypress-lined roads as we drove through the countryside to explore medieval towns and remote villages. I've had two busy weeks at home and now I am off to Turkiye for 7 nights with my daughter! This one is a sun lounger break, time to simply sit, read a book, enjoy the views and do nothing much at all, the temperatures should be around 25 to 28 degrees although it will be cooler in the evenings. Then dare I say it, it'll be time to start thinking about Christmas! Love from Michelle xx Disclaimer: this is a gifted blog post with Lighthouse Clothing. Pin this post for later!
