You can’t quite beat a day by the seaside and Brighton has to be one of the best or maybe it is just my own childhood nostalgia that makes it a favourite. I have fond memories of visiting family there when I was a child, then as a teenager and young adult, my boyfriend’s family owned a motorboat that was moored in Brighton Marina and so we visited a lot. We’ve stayed at the Caravan Club site in Brighton in our caravan and had many day trips as it is so easy to reach for us. So this half term off we went again. This visit didn’t quite go as planned and wasn’t one of the best but that happens sometimes and in an effort to write my blog as truthfully as I can about real life, there is no point in pretending it was perfect! I had it in my head that I was going to find the perfect ‘healthy eating’ restaurant in the Lanes that would allow the dogs inside! Umm no ideal independent restaurant, only big chains and after wandering about for about an hour we gave up and headed to Jamie’s Italian but had to sit outside as no dogs allowed. It was a little on the chilly side! We then headed towards the beach and the pier and enjoyed a long walk along the seafront. The weather was fairly mild and it was dry but again there was nowhere to sit and have a cup of tea inside with the dogs. Now this is unusual, our two Westies are often with us and most places are happy to accommodate them but not in Brighton it seems. We wanted to take them as they love a run by the sea. We decided to leave later and miss the Friday evening traffic on the M25 but without being able to warm up inside with a cuppa it did start getting quite chilly. My husband resorted to hugging the teapot! The big new attraction in Brighton is the British Airways i360 observation tower and when we arrived we noticed a fairly large crowd and big black cars. Later on we discovered that HRH The Duke of Edinburgh was there officially opening the i360. So we plan to go back to Brighton soon, minus our beloved dogs, head straight to the i360 and take a ride up it and enjoy lunch in one of the new restaurants overlooking the beach. But the day out gave me the opportunity to test out my new coat! I splashed the cash and treated myself to a Barbour International Camber Baffle Quilted Jacket in black, it is warm and waterproof but also lightweight which I prefer, I feel a bit trussed up with too much fur and bulk. See you soon! Michelle x My jacket is from Barbour International, my scarf is from Sweetbea and my jeans are Boden. Trainers are are faithful Adidas superstars!

I finished the SSS Plan in September; I recovered from my MUA for my Frozen Shoulder and then moved onto the SAS Plan which is the graduate plan for those who have completed SSS. It is an ongoing programme which you sign up for on a monthly basis and costs £19.99 per month for a number of set recipes and an exercise plan. It changes every month. It continues to be tailored to your own macros, measurements and requirements i.e. more fat loss or maintenance for example.
Now I have to be honest I have lost a bit of my mojo in the last couple of weeks. I think this happens when you start a new cycle or month – it takes a few days to get used to the new exercise and the new recipes, find what you like and properly get started. A few weeks ago after a couple of glasses of wine on a Friday evening I felt very tired and unwell all weekend which didn't help! But when this happens I remind myself how far I have come and that I absolutely don’t want to go back to the beginning. It has been hard work getting here, I will not ruin it! I look at my before photos and I look back over my Instagram feed (I set up an account up especially for my Body Coach journey) and it gets me motivated again. At the beginning the biggest struggle was the constant need to cook – everything has to be prepared from scratch and so there’s no just nipping into the kitchen for a slice of toast! But now 6 months in I am completely adapted to that and I have worked out what is ‘quick and easy’ and I am much better at planning and less likely to say ‘let’s just get a takeaway or go to M&S’. I think though that my challenge now is making this fit with the family. I try to cook them the same meal as I am having but that means being very careful with getting my measuring right, I do often add carbs to theirs (i.e. fajita’s without the wrap but for the family I simply added the wrap). However with different tastes and timetables – my son works full time now and I never know if he is eating at home or not, this is still a challenge and to make this way of eating a sustainable long term change I need to get better at it. Going back to the red wine reference above …. I am actually realising now that I don’t enjoy a glass of wine as much, and to be honest do I really want it? One glass okay – but why two? I really don’t sleep after wine and on this occasion it left me very tired for the whole weekend. I know I have said this before but it takes each mistake to cement my resolve – I don’t plan to drink wine going forward! I do enjoy a glass or two of prosecco though as it is much lighter and to be honest I really enjoy a lime and soda so I will be sticking to these from now on. I lost a tiny bit of weight after M1 and a few more inches. Losses will be slower now as I am nearly at my goal and my body will be trying to hang onto the last bit of fat. But I am a size 8-10 and my clothes feel comfortable. I am slowly getting rid of the baggy clothes I favoured to hide my bigger bits and going back to fitted outfits. I am constantly getting lovely compliments about being so small and petite again. I’ll take that thank you! Do you want to start your own lean journey? Are you inspired by my journey?
