Two of the best warm and waterproof walking coats for autumn and winter

28/10/2025

It's time to think about our autumn and winter coats again, the clocks have changed, the weather is getting more unpredictable and we all need a reliable coat for crisp dog-walks, fitness walks or countryside weekends!  Getting our outdoor wear right makes all the difference to our mental wellbeing and if we are warm, dry and cosy, we are more likely to get outside.

This autumn I've committed to more fitness walks, I've even added them to my diary!  I am going skiing for new year and I know my cardio fitness is a little lacking so I will be walking more challenging uphill paths to get my heart rate up and prepare me for my ski holiday.  But I need to keep dry and warm!

I’ve been looking for waterproof coats that offer not only protection from the elements, but a flattering fit and thoughtful design too, it’s about practical pieces that still feel stylish enough to wear for coffee or errands as well. And that’s exactly why Lighthouse Clothing has become a favourite in my wardrobe since being introduced to them last year.

Lighthouse coats are beautifully made, many are fully waterproof (or water repellant), windproof, breathable and designed for real women who want to look good while staying warm and dry.

This is a gifted blog post.

Life lately ... holidays, autumn outfits, favourite beauty buys and the countdown to 60!

Hello!  I've not done a really personal post for ages, and it is very remiss of me, I want to make sure my blog remains a personal space but sometimes life takes over, I get busy and I end up having to prioritise sponsored posts (because it is the paid and the affiliate content that allows me to keep my blog going)!

Anyway, how are you all?  I'd love you to email me or leave a comment below, I always appreciate hearing from the real people that find my blog and hopefully resonate with the life of a 'nearly 60 midlife woman' - how is that possible?  I will be 60 in December 2026!  The countdown needs to be begin.  Share with me how you celebrated your 60th, if you have already reached that milestone.  And below I will share a few ideas I have.

What have I been up to the last few months?  Well as summer was slowly departing, I had a short trip to Ibiza with my daughter, then a few weeks at home to catch up before I went to Tűrkiye with my husband.  I've also been updating my wardrobe, putting away summer and organising autumn/winter but with a few new capsule pieces added.  Read on to find out more about life lately and take a peek at a few new outfits!

Feel Pro Collagen Type 2 for Joints review - the first vegan 'collagen' specifically for joint health

16/10/2025

If you follow a plant-based diet (or simply want a more sustainable option), you may have struggled to find a joint-focused alternative to animal-derived Type II collagen. Feel’s new Pro Collagen Type 2 for Joints takes a different approach: it uses a vegan, biomimetic profile designed to replicate human Type II collagen (the dominant collagen in cartilage). This supplement positions it as the world’s first vegan Type 2 collagen for joints, created with the VeCollal® Type 2 ingredient. (VeCollal).

Feel Pro Collagen Type 2 for Joints has just launched and I was sent one to try. I am not vegan but a more sustainable option does appeal and then there is the all-important taste-test - if I don't like it I won't remember to keep it in my routine.  Being consistent with daily use over several weeks - Feel recommend 90 days - is important, but evidence for vegan, bio-mimetic 'collagen' is looking positive and benefits can include more comfort and mobility, so if you are struggling with joint pain or swelling, then I recommend speaking to your doctor as well as introducing a supplement routine.

Collagen is one of the most recommended and recognised supplements for both joints and skin, hair and nails especially in midlife and it is not often understood that there are two separate types (see more below). Finding a good vegan collagen can be a challenge, and of course you want one that is as good as - or better than - the animal-based ones, read on to understand more about collagen for joint health.
