Today’s post is more of a general catch-up really! Now that autumn is upon us my mind is turning to planning the next few months. Sorting my wardrobe out and getting a bit more organised at home now my daughter is back at school and my son has started work full time. I’ve got a few things going on: I’ve read a lot recently about Bullet Journals. They are all over Pinterest and there is a fab website where it all began (www.bulletjournal.com). The idea being that all my to do lists, my projects, ideas and events are all recorded in one place. I’ve tried various versions of this idea before but I still end up with scrappy bits of paper all over the place. Today’s task is to see if I can set up my own Bullet Journal. Of course I might be able to make it look pretty but the ultimate test is in using it – and will I still be using it in 6 months’ time. I’ll let you know. Today I am posting the invitations to my 50th Birthday Party! Yep despite writing about it here, I decided to have a party! I’ve never thrown a proper party for myself, in a lovely venue, with music and dancing and all my family and friends in one room. I didn’t have a big wedding either so here I go. I am very excited and of course you will be hearing lots about my plans in the coming weeks. Most importantly I need to find a fantastic dress. In the next week or so I will gradually siphon out my very lightweight summer clothes from my wardrobe. Some will be stored for next year, some will be heading for the charity shop or eBay, and I will then take a look at my early winter clothes and see what I want to keep and what new items I need. I do a lot of shopping online but I also love to have a wander around the shops and I am off to Windsor next week with a friend so I suspect I may come back with a few purchases.
I have moved onto SAS from The Body Coach. This is the graduate programme; you can only do it if you have completed the SSS plan. It is an ongoing monthly subscription, so you decide each month if you want to carry on. I am just starting week 2 of month 1. I am still aiming to lose some body fat and inches. It is slow and steady but that way it is more likely to stay off and settle into a lifestyle change. For me September is more of a new year than January. It is when the children go back to school and autumn just feels more like the beginning and I like planning the year ahead. Holidays are mostly done and we can think about Christmas and planning our next holidays. Have a lovely day everyone. Michelle x

This week I’ve still been enjoying wearing my summer clothes, eking them out before I consign them to storage. But after last night’s storm and a sudden drop in temperature my mind has turned to thinking about the autumn trends. It’s a bit early for me yet and I’ve not made it to the shops to have a really good look around to see what is appearing but I have noticed a few trends coming through and which I am ready to tap into: Burgandy I mentioned this a couple of weeks ago in a blog post (mixing red and burgundy – read it here) and burgundy is a definite colour trend that I am seeing all over Instagram and in the magazines. I started off with a pair of Pretty Ballerina pumps and I have now added a few Boden items (see below). It is not a colour I have worn for a while but is definitely one that suits my colouring. I tend to choose an ‘accent’ colour each season, something that can be worn with black and navy and can provide the basis of my capsule wardrobe. I think it could be burgundy this autumn. And I’ve just had my nails and feet painted in a deep red colour too! Capes These have been loitering for a while but I am often late to the party! I think they could be a good alternative to a coat especially in the autumn. I have just bought this Boden one which again includes the nod to the burgundy trend and will go well with both denim and black jeans. Animal Print This has been appearing for a good few years now! I am yet to find the perfect animal print bag, although I do have smaller ones for evenings out. Another instagrammer mentioned these fabulous Next boots to me last week and I ordered them immediately. They are comfortable, practical and gorgeous. I had already ordered the Boden ones but they were on delay so I have now cancelled them and will be keeping these ones without a doubt! I can see these working well with an all black outfit – jeans and cashmere jumper then the pop of animal print. Next Leather Point Chelsea Ankle Boots £60
I’m a big Mint Velvet fan as you probably know and I notice they have bought out a new range Mint by Mint Velvet. A bit more high end, simple luxury, very understated I think. I am keen to take a look when the range hits my local boutique. I really must get to the shops and take a look properly! Boden currently have 15% off everything too! Have a good weekend. Michelle x I’m nearly 50 and I feel much younger, much more confident in myself than I did at 30 … and 40. I didn’t feel like having a party for my 40th but for my 50th it was a nagging desire that eventually resulted in me booking a venue last week for 60 or so of my friends and family to celebrate with me.
Bucket Lists have become much more popular recently and an article I read this weekend prompted me to think about mine a bit more. Like many today, mine is a series of lovely photographs on Pinterest but mostly it is in my head, stored under ‘I really should get round to doing …’ Of course with my children grown up and soon to be leaving me (my son is nearly 19 and my daughter is nearly 16) my fifties will be a lot more carefree with less commitment so maybe it is time to take my Bucket List seriously and actually get on and tick a few more bits off. Here are some of the things on my list:
Next week I will share with you the list of things I have already crossed off! Michelle x I was ordering some school tights for my daughter and (as you do) couldn't resist taking a little look at the new season items coming into Marks & Spencer. I think M&S can be a bit hit or miss but when they get in right then they get it very right! And those items they do get right are often snapped up by the fashonista's and sell out very quickly. I tend to stick to Autograph and Limited Edition. Here are a few items that caught my eye today: These come in black too! Wow they are gorgeous. Here is the link. At £125 they are a bargain really, similar boots elsewhere would be over £200. I do love some animal print and this subtle bag really caught my eye, now can I justify another handbag?! It's £89. This popped up on another blog I follow last week. The ditsy tea dress is only £35. I can see it looking great with leather biker jacket (see below), opaque tights and biker boots. I have a beautiful tan leather biker jacket from Mint Velvet but always feel there is a black biker jacket hole in my wardrobe. I am not sure I would wear it often enough to justify the cost of a leather one so I may take a look at t his faux-leather jacket from Limited Edition at £59. ,So what do you think of M&S this season? I quite like to order online, the stores have so much stock it can be overwhelming. It's free delivery over £50 so maybe when I order those tights ...?!!
